1-20 Introduction
DISABLED: FmNT will not attempt to establish communication link upon startup.
ENABLED is recommended for this option.
1.9.7.3.3 Default Control State
This option allows the user define the default control state upon FmNT’s startup. The valid
choices are:
OFFLINE/ATTEMPT ONLINE, OFFLINE/EQUIPMENT OFFLINE, OFFLINE/HOST
OFFLINE, ONLINE/LOCAL, ONLINE/REMOTE
ONLINE/REMOTE is recommended for this option. Refer to Control State section for
description of these states.
1.9.7.3.4 On-line Attempt Failure Destination
This option allows the user to select what to do if attempting to go on-line fails for any
reason. The valid choices are:
OFFLINE/HOST OFFLINE, OFFLINE/EQUIPMENT OFFLINE
OFFLINE/HOST OFFLINE is recommended for this option. Refer to Control State section
for description of these states.
1.9.7.3.5 Beep Until Incoming Message Acknowledged
If this option is selected, FmNT will beep twice a second to notify the user of arrival an
incoming terminal message from the host. The GEM status bar blinks at the same rate to
catch user’s attention regardless of this option being selected or not. The user should then
go to the Terminal page to view and acknowledge the message.
1.9.8 RunWindow Interface
The SECS/GEM page of Run Window provides user the opportunity to view incoming
terminal messages and to send terminal messages to host.
The incoming message will be
displayed in the upper box. The operator can acknowledge receipt of the message by
pressing the “Acknowledge” button. To send a text message to host, the operator
should type his message in the lower box and then presss the “Send” button.
The current communication state, control state, and spool state is displayed in this
page for user notification.
The SECS/GEM box to the right of the screen shows the communication state of the GEM
interface. If communication has not been established, a grey picture will show. A color
picture will be shown as long as the communication link is established.
