G-4 Glossary
Interlock Recovery Light: Located on the Control
Panel and labeled Interlock Recovery. When the light
is ON, you can safely access the inside of the
dispensing area. When the light is OFF, accessing the
inside of the dispensing area will cause a non-
recoverable interlock shutdown to occur.
Jet: A FmXP-controlled type of Dispensing Valve,
such as the DJ-2200, that dispenses fluid using a
pneumatically actuated piston/needle mechanism. A
built-in heater warms the fluid to stabilize fluid
viscosity. Dispenses fluid as small dots.
Jet on the Fly: Asymtek’s fastest jetting method.
With “Jet on the Fly” (JOF) technology, the
DispenseJet pump can dispense lines of dots “on the
fly” (without stopping).
Keepout Zones: User-defined areas that are off
limits for Dispensing Head travel. Keepout Zones are
defined in the FmXP software.
kPa: Kilo Pascals. Metric unit of pressure
measurement.
Lead Frame: A type of part handler where multiple
parts are imbedded in a metal tape.
LCD: Liquid Crystal Display. This type of display is
used in the Computer Monitor.
LED: Light-Emitting-Diode. A semiconductor that
emits light. The materials used in the diode determine
the color of light. Functions as a system status
indicator and as an element in the Camera light
source.
Levelers: Four adjustable pedestals (feet) on the
bottom of the dispensing system.
Lift Height: The height that the workpiece is lifted
by the Lift Table at the dispense station of the
Conveyor.
Light Beacon: A safety device with colored lights
and an audible alarm that is attached to the top of a
dispensing system. Colored lights and an audible
alarm indicate machine status. Part of the Integrated
Safety Systems.
Line Parameters: An FMXP feature that offers
greater control over line thickness to ensure cleanly
dispensed lines.
LLHC: Lower left hand corner.
Load Cell: A sensor located on Model NSZ needle
sensors that is used as a touch point for substrate
height measurements. The needle sensor probe
touches down on the tactile sensor, which records the
value (Automatic Height Sensor Calibration).
Local Machine Offsets: For factories that run the
same FmXP dispensing program on multiple
machines, the goal is to have one “golden” program.
Because no two machines perform exactly alike, in
order for a program written on one machine to
perform the same on another machine, some
correction or calibration is required. Local Machine
Offsets (LMO) is a group of three features that help
obtain the goal of one “golden” program.
LRHC: Lower right hand corner.
Main Power Inlet: The Main Power Inlet connects
the Main Power cable from the facility power source
to the dispensing system.
Main Program: The Main Program is a set of
commands usually hidden from the Programming
Window. The Main Program begins and ends the
program and contains:
• Comments about program flow
• Mode Setting Instructions
• Process Instructions
• User Added Setup Processes
• Workpiece Pattern Call
• Program End Command
Maintenance: Planned or unplanned activities
intended to keep the dispensing system in good
working order.
Mass Flow Calibration: See Flow Rate Calibration.
Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS): Information
sheet for the safe usage of a specific material. It is
provided by the material manufacturer and is usually
included in the material packaging.
Message Areas: In a Windows program, these are
areas or boxes that contain information for the
operator.
Mil: One thousandths on an inch, or 1 x 10
-3
inches.
Model Window: An area defined during the fiducial
location process. The model window encompasses
the fiducial.
Multipass Pattern: A pattern that re-uses one set of
fiducials and height senses to repeat the same pattern
at one or more locations on the workpiece.
Multiple Flow Rates: See Variable Valve Speed.
