Glossary G-3
ESD: Electrostatic Discharge.
Fiducial: A distinct shape or object on the
workpiece. The Vision System uses fiducials for
location reference.
Fiducial Assisted Setup: Fiducials are used to
define locations of the purge cup, scale, tactile
sensor, substrate, and needle sensor. This feature is
only available for the Camera-Assisted Scripted
Valve Offsets procedure.
Flip Chip: A die with solder bumps that is placed
die circuit side-down on a PCB.
Flip Chip Underfill: Dispensing lines of fluid
around the perimeter of a flip-chip so that the fluid
flows underneath the chip.
Flow Rate: Fluid in milligrams per second that is
dispensed from the Dispensing Valve.
Flow Rate Calibration: Flow Rate Calibration is a
weight measurement system that is used to calibrate
the weight of fluid dispensed at given times and
automatically adjust the flow rate if needed.
Fluid Files: FmXP fluid files store specific
information about fluid dispensing parameters and
the Fluid Manager. Fluid files are saved with a .flu
filename extension.
Fluid Reservoir: The reservoir contains the
dispensing fluid. It may be a syringe or off-board
reservoir.
FmXP: Fluidmove for Windows XP. Asymtek
proprietary dispensing software based in a Windows
XP environment.
FmXP Online Help: The help function in FmXP
that is accessed by clicking on the Help button on
most of the windows and dialog boxes on the
Monitor screen.
Fuse: A safety device that is designed to
automatically cut off the flow of electricity when the
flow of current through the fuse exceeds its rated
capacity.
Gantry: A non-conveyorized dispensing area on a
non-conveyorized dispensing system.
Gauge: Either an analog or digital device used to
measure internal pressure of fluid or air in a closed
system.
Graphic Card: Computer card that outputs the
video signal to the Monitor.
Grounding Strap: A strap worn on the wrist of an
operator and plugged into the Auxiliary Operator’s
Console jacks to prevent electrostatic discharge
(ESD) that may cause damage to the workpiece.
Heater File: FmXP heater files record information
about heater configuration. Heater files are saved
with a .htc or .htr filename extension.
Heater Tooling: A Contact or Impingement Heater
tooling plate located between the Conveyor rails.
These heaters can be located in up to three Conveyor
stations (pre-dispense, dispense and post-dispense).
Used to heat workpieces to control the flow and cure
time of dispensed fluid.
Height Sensor: An electromechanical or laser
device that measures substrate height and sends a
signal to the system Computer. The height
information is used to position the dispensing needle
at an exact distance above the workpiece surface.
Home: The dispense head location whose X, Y, Z
location is defined as the coordinates (0,0,0). The
default setting is where the Dispensing Head was
located when the system was first turned on. On
Asymtek systems, the default home position is the
front left hand corner of the dispensing chamber. For
the Conveyor, home is when the rear rail moves to
the back of the dispensing area.
I/O: Input/Output. Communication between one
component or device and another.
Icons: Small buttons on a Computer screen with a
symbol representing the function that they perform.
Used to execute a menu shortcut.
Integrated Safety Systems: Built-in safety system
that automatically prevents injury and damage
resulting from Dispensing Head and Conveyor
movement. The Integrated Safety Systems consist of
an Interlock Keyswitch, Interlock Door Sensors or
Light Curtain, Interlock Recovery Light, Status
Indictor Lights, and a Light Beacon.
Interlock Door Sensors: The Interlock Door
Sensors detect the door status (open or closed). On
systems with the Light Curtain, an emitter and
receiver detect obstructions.
Interlock Keyswitch: The Interlock Keyswitch is
located on the Control Panel and is designed to
restrict access to the inside of the dispensing system,
based on user-defined levels of operation. It has two
modes: ON and OFF.
