Exercise 7-3: Creating a Program Using Step and Repeat
1. Select Teach a Program from the Main Menu.
The Programming Window opens.
2. In the Programming Window, select
File > New or click on the Program Wizard icon.
3. Select
One fiducial.
You will be prompted to teach the workpiece origin and fiducials.
NOTE Refer to Section 5 - Programming Basics and Setup for step-by-step instructions on
teaching workpiece origin and fiducials.
4. Use the position controls to center the camera crosshairs on the dot nearest the ULHC of the
first square in the top row on Side 2 of the Tutorial Board.
This will be the Workpiece pattern origin.
You are now ready to program the location of the program instruction you want to
repeat.
5. Click the
Dispensing Elements icon on the Programming Toolbar and select the
Rectangle button.
6. Use the position controls to move the camera crosshairs to the upper left-hand corner of the
first rectangle on Side 2 of the Tutorial Board and click
Teach.
7. Move to the lower right-hand corner of the same rectangle and click
Teach.
8. Click on
Done.
9. Use the mouse to highlight the newly created command and click on the
Step and Repeat
button on the Program Commands Toolbar.
You will be repeating the rectangle dispensing instruction highlighted in Step 9 above.
The Step and Repeat Edit Window opens and the
Parameters tab will be displayed.
10. Enter
Rectangle for the pattern name.
11. Enter
3 Rows and 3 Columns to create a 3 x 3 array of dispense locations.
12. Click on the
Positions tab and select Ends.
The cursor should be in the End of Row Offset box.
NOTE The location of the cursor determines which offset is entered when the Teach
button is selected.
13. Use the position controls to move the camera crosshairs to the upper left-hand corner of the
third rectangle in the first row and click
Teach.
The cursor should now be in the End of Column Offset box.
14. Use the position controls to move the camera crosshairs to the upper left-hand corner of the
third rectangle in the first column and click
Teach.
