1-6 Introduction
1.6.6 Advanced Programming Menus
The Programming Window is specifically designed to make programming intuitive and easy. The
programmer is prompted through workpiece and fiducial setup. Logical tool bars and menu icons for
common commands simplify keystrokes. The programmer has access to all machine controls, fluid
control parameters, and timing parameters in the Programming Window and can use them in the
programming process. In addition, both wet and dry dispensing runs can be performed from the
Programming Window for testing and fine-tuning a dispensing program.
1.6.7 Advanced Vision System Support
Dispensing systems using FmXP are equipped with an advanced camera/light vision system called
Asymtek Vision for Windows (AVW), which is an integrated application within FmXP. It allows you to
see the board onto which you are dispensing by providing a video overlay of the board in a fully
integrated
FmXP window. You can control light levels, camera-offset, corner finding algorithms, fiducial
recognition, skew correction, chip tolerance, and part skipping as necessary to optimize your program.
See 4.4.7 Vision System Setup.
1.6.7.1 Camera Calibration
The camera calibration procedure includes rotation compensation. When a factory uses multiple Nordson
ASYMTEK machines, camera rotation can affect dispensing accuracy. Determining the camera rotation
during calibration and using this information during a production run removes the machine-to-machine
variation.
1.6.7.2 Lighting Calibration
When a factory utilizes multiple Nordson ASYMTEK machines running the same dispensing program, it
may be useful to normalize the light output between the machines so that the programmed light level of a
given dispense program will generate roughly the same light output on each machine. This feature is only
available on lighting systems with more than 16 levels.
1.6.8 Advanced Heater Options
FmXP now supports the following heater options. See 9.3.1.1 Heater Control Window.
1.6.8.1 Dual Heater Control
FmXP can control two Anafaze heater controllers.
1.6.8.2 Idle Timer for Heaters
Each heater channel can be configured to automatically turn off after a pre-programmed amount of idle
time. Idle time is defined as:
No boards have arrived for the specified amount of time when in production mode, or
No user input for the specified amount of time when not in production mode.
1.6.8.3 Rapid Response Heater™ System
Nordson ASYMTEK’s new Rapid Response Heaters with low-mass design rapidly ramp to temperature
for uniform material flow and quick cool-down for fast tool change out. An advanced hole pattern
provides highly uniform impingement heat across the entire part surface.
