Table 5-5 Pot Life/Low Fluid Check Options
Command
Description
No hardware
sensor
Select this option if the system is not equipped with a low fluid sensor and no low
fluid check will be performed.
Use 1-posiiton
sensor
Allows use of a one-position Low Fluid Sensor that warns when the fluid level is low.
Use 2-posiiton
sensor
Allows use of a two-position Low Fluid Sensor that first warns the user that the fluid
level is getting low and later indicates that the fluid syringe is empty. If this option is
selected, clicking on Configure will open a dialog box where you can configure the
following information:
• The valve number (1 or 2) associated with the Low Fluid Sensor.
• Warning Sensor bit number and assertion level (Low or High).
• Empty Sensor bit number and assertion level (Low or High).
• Bit selection buttons for each sensor.
Use Linear
Sensor
Enables use of the linear-type low fluid sensor which measures fluid quantity based
on an array of digital inputs.
Use software
tracking
Uses the software to determine when dispensing fluid is almost empty based on
syringe weight. Enter the appropriate values in the following text boxes.
Initial syringe
weight
When using software tracking, “Initial Syringe Weight”
is the weight in milligrams.
Warning
syringe weight
When using software tracking, “Warning Syringe Weight” is the warning syringe
weight in milligrams. To display a warning, enable “Display Warning on Low Detect.”
Critical syringe
weight
When using software tracking, “Critical Syringe Weight” is the critical syringe weight
in milligrams. To display a warning, enable “Display Warning on Low Detect.”
Remaining
Weight
When using software tracking, “Remaining Weight” is the weight in milligrams of the
fluid currently remaining in the syringe. As fluid is dispensed, the software will
automatically update this value.
Set to Initial
Pressing the “Set to Initial” button will reset the “Remaining Weight” value to the
initial syringe weight. The operator should click the “Set to Initial” button each time
the syringe is changed.
Display
Warning on
Low Detect
Activates an audible alarm when a low fluid sense by sensor or software is detected.
A message box indicating that a low fluid sense has been detected will also open,
and a countdown begins based upon the number of boards entered in the "Boards
After Low Detect" text box. Refer to 4.4.2 Valve Setup.
Board After
Low Detect
The number of boards to be completed after a low fluid sense has been detected.
Allow Future
Thaw Times To
Be Entered
Allows future fluid thaw dates/ times to be entered in "Syringe Data" during Prompted
Setup or when setting up syringe data. The pot life countdown will then start at the
future thaw time.
Enable Pot Life
Check
Lets the operator monitor the pot life of the fluid being used.
Pot Life
The number of hours of fluid pot life. Pot life information should be included in the
documentation provided with the fluid.
Notify Below
The number of hours prior to pot life expiration that a warning is issued to the
operator. The warning will include the time remaining before pot life expires.
Enable Syringe
and Fluid Data
Validation
Enables validation of information contained in syringe bar code label with the
expected syringe information. This is a custom feature and is disabled for all
standard users.
Thawing Time
Data used to validate syringe data. This is a custom feature and is disabled for all
standard users.
NOTE If the pot life expires during a production run, the run will complete before the machine
automatically stops.
