Programming Basics and Setup 5-19
Command Description
Enable Multiple Dot
Weight Calibration
A check mark in this box allows the calculation of multiple dot weight calibrations.
When this feature is activated, you can specify the number of dot weight
calibrations you wish to perform by typing a number in the runs text box.
If the calculated dot weights are out of valid dot weight range, an error message
is issued. The operator must adjust the valve speed and perform the dot weight
calibration again until the dot weight calculations fall within the specified range.
Control Dot Weight
with Pressure
When checked, the dot weight vs. pressure calibration procedure is enabled.
This procedure determines the fluid pressure which yields the user-specified
desired dot weight.
Match Program
Duty Cycle
When selected, the timing of the valve's dispensing during program execution is
recorded. This same timing is subsequently used to dispense fluid in the
selected dot weight calibration routine.
Time Between
Boards
The approximate time that elapses between the end of dispensing on one board
and the start of dispensing on the next. This value is used in the Match Duty
Cycle calibration routine to accurately duplicate the valve's duty cycle during
production.
Purge During Dot
Weight Calibration
A check mark in this box will cause a purge operation to be performed prior to
the dot weight calibration.
Number of
Dispenses to
Average
Controls the number of dispenses performed during a single dot weight
calibration procedure. The number entered should imitate your dispensing
application as closely as possible so that dot weight maintenance can be
adjusted to dispense precisely how it should during the production run.
Minimum Dispense
Weight
The text box indicates the weight (mg) of fluid per dispense (see Number of
Dispenses to Average, above) that will be used in the dot weight calibration. The
weight of the fluid dispensed in the scale cup should be great enough to ensure
that the scale can make an accurate measurement.
Time Between
Dispenses
Controls the amount of time FmXP waits between dispenses during a multi-
dispense dot weight measurement. The duration entered should imitate your
dispensing application as closely as possible so that dot weight maintenance can
be adjusted to dispense precisely how it should during the production run.
Dispensed Weight
Bias
Adjusts the amount (weight) of fluid to be dispensed during weight-controlled
instructions. If the weighed fluid is consistently over or under the desired
percentage of fluid after dot weight calibration, you can set the bias to
compensate for the hardware variation. Bias is necessary to ensure consistent
fluid dispensing.
Block Production
Run on Failure
Disables the production run if dot weight parameters are not met.
Valid Dot Weight
Ranges
Specifies the acceptable range of measurements during a dot weight calibration.
If the flow rate is outside of the valid range, the software will notify the operator
and will not use the invalid flow rate. The default is 0.1 to 999 mg/sec. You can
change these values as needed to fit your particular requirements by clicking in
the text boxes and entering the desired values.
Max % of
Preceding
The percentages by which two consecutive flowrate (dot weight) calibration
results can differ before the user is alerted. Both an upper (above) and lower
(below) percentage limit is specified.
