System Configuration and Setup 4-117
Offset routines establish machine offset parameters by performing certain tasks which may include, but
are not limited to those in Table 4-19. The specific tasks performed during each type of routine depend on
the following:
Type of Height Sensor Installed (Mechanical, Laser, or None)
Type and Quantity of Valve(s) Installed
Type of Needle Sensor (NS, NSZ, or None)
Presence or Absence of Vision System
Table 4-19 Typical Offset Routine Setup Tasks
Procedure Description
Teach Safe Z
Establishes the ideal height for the dispensing head as it travels
around the dispensing area in the X or Y-axes.
Teach Purge Location
Defines the location of the purge station in relation to the needle or
nozzle tip.
Teach Scale Location Defines the scale location in relation to the needle or nozzle tip.
Calculate the Needle-to-Height
Sensor Z Offset
Calibrates the Z-axis offset between the needle/nozzle and the
height sensor probe tip or laser beam.
Calculate the Needle-to-Camera
XY Offset
Calibrates the needle/nozzle XY location relative to the camera.
Calculate the Camera-to-Height
Sensor XY offset
Calibrates the height sensor probe/laser beam XY location relative
to the camera.
WARNING! CAUTION!
The dispensing head will move during offset routines. Make sure the dispensing
area is clear of all obstacles prior to beginning any setup procedure.
4.5.1 Valve Offsets
Valve Offsets allows you to perform one or all of the setup tasks in any order. This allows you to adjust
only one offset parameter without going through the entire routine. The Valve Offsets routine varies
slightly depending on your system configuration and options selected.
To perform a Valve Offsets routine:
NOTE Make sure the Vision System has been calibrated before performing this routine. Refer to
4.4.7 Vision System Setup.
1. Clear the work area of any obstacles that might interfere with dispensing head movement.
2. In the Main Window, select
Configuration > Machine Offsets > Valve Offsets.
The Setup Valve Offsets window (Figure 4-100) opens.
NOTE If Valve Offsets is grayed-out, refer to 4.3.9 Setup Scripts Options for
instructions on selecting an initial setup procedure.
3. In the Setup Valve Offsets window, make sure
Valve 1 is selected.
