4-104 System Configuration and Setup
2. Click on the drop-down arrow next to Type and select the type of scanner installed.
If there is no scanner installed, select (none) and click on OK. No further action
is needed.
If the desired scanner does not appear in the list, "Generic" may be selected and may
work for some scanners. "Generic" does not try to configure the scanner, but only reads
from the scanner using the postamble specified in the “Fmconfig.ini” file. The
"postamble" is the character that specifies the end of the scanner transmission string.
This value is entered as a decimal number representing the desired character. The
default "13" converts to a carriage return.
If "Generic" is selected, the Barcode Configuration Tabs become disabled.
3. Click on
Enable to activate the selected scanner.
4. Select the desired options under
Barcode Configuration.
The tabs in this section give FmXP the flexibility to use different types of bar codes.
The default setting is Code 39 (enabled). Selecting other barcodes may increase scan
time.
- Code 39
- Codabar
- l 2 of 5
- UPC/EAN
- Code 128
Select the
Setup tab to establish barcode usage protocol.
Select the
Trigger tab to make the scan trigger settings. The Trigger tab provides the
method of scanner triggering. Selecting either "External Level" or "External Edge"
requires an external trigger to be connected to the scanner.
