4.4.10 Scanner Setup
Setup Scanner allows you to identify and configure a barcode scanner installed on your
dispensing system.
To set up the scanner
1. In the Main Window, select
Configuration > Setup Scanner.
 The Scanner window (Figure 4-88) opens.
Command Description
Type
Click on the drop-down arrow to the right to view all scanner types currently
supported by FmXP.
Enable/Disable Enables or disables the scanner feature.
Barcode Filters
Barcode Filters create a new code based on a raw input read from scanner. For
example, (3, 2) means at the index-1 based location 3, 2 subsequent digits will be
retrieved from a read barcode.
Product Type
– Use scanner to read a barcode which represents the product type.
Usually it is in a different location from a board code.
Serial Number
– Use scanner to read a barcode which represents the serial number.
Usually it is in a different location from a board code.
Edit
- Change or view the current filter.

Configuration
The tabs in this section can be used to give FmXP the flexibility to use different types
of bar codes. The default setting is Code 39 (enabled).
The Trigger tab provides the method of scanner triggering. Selecting either "External
Level" or "External Edge" requires an external trigger to be connected to the scanner.
Reinitialization Press to initialize or reinitialize communication with the scanner.
