Command Description
Height Sensor
Type
Height Sensor Type - Select the Height Sensor type from the list. If there is no
Height Sensor installed, select (none).
Probe Toggle Delay - The amount of time (in milliseconds) that FmNT waits
before checking the state of the Height Sensor probe. The default value is 100
ms. Commands are executed so quickly in FmNT, that FmNT may check to see
if the Height Sensor has been activated before the probe has fully lowered.
Probe Toggle Delay applies only to the Tactile (RT) Height Sensor.
Mode
Height Sense Always - This mode guarantees an accurate dispense gap and is
beneficial in instances in which a substrate may be warped. The Height Sensor
probe is always down. Dispense height is established during Setup.
Height sense on command - Allows you to put a Find Substrate Height
command into your program, which performs a height sense at a taught location
on the workpiece. A Height Sense Off command will be ignored in this mode.
Batch height sense - The On Command mode must be selected to use this
option. When this option is enabled, the dispensing system performs and
stores data from all programmed height senses prior to starting the dispensing
operation.
Selective height sense - During Setup, you have the option to define an area in
which one height sense will be taken. If the Dispensing Head travels outside of
that defined area, another height sense is taken. This mode is ideal for
workpieces requiring a variety of dispense heights.
No height sense - ask on every workpiece - You will be asked at the beginning
of each workpiece to teach the dispense height by lowering the needle to the
desired dispensing height.
No height sense - ask on first workpiece only - This option is excellent for both
batch and conveyorized dispensing systems. You will be asked to teach the
dispensing height at the first workpiece only. The information will be used on all
subsequent workpieces.
No height sense - use last known substrate height - A dispensing height is
established during setup. This information will be used for all dispensing.
Parameters
Down Speed - The rate in inches per second that the Dispensing Head
descends to the point where dispensing begins.
Up Speed - The rate in inches per second that the Dispensing Head goes up
after each dispense.
Acceleration - The rate at which the Dispensing Head reaches the designated
Down Speed or Up Speed.
Max. Search Distance - The maximum distance that the Dispensing Head
descends from absolute zero when searching for the substrate surface. If the
Height Sensor does not locate the surface within that distance, an error
message appears. The recommended setting varies depending on the
application and platform.
Retract Distance - The vertical distance the Dispensing Head moves up after
dispensing. The Retract Distance must be within the Safe Z Height and can be
reduced to increase dispensing speed. The recommended setting varies
depending on the application and platform.
