Table 10-1 SECS/GEM Setup Options
Command Description
Establish
Communication
Timeout
This value is used to initialize the CommDelay timer. It defines the
delay, in seconds, between communication attempts between the host
and the system. A valid value must be set between 1 and 1000.
Default
Communication State
This option allows you to define the default communication state upon
FmNT startup. The valid choices are:
ENABLED: FmNT will attempt to establish a communication link
upon startup.
DISABLED: FmNT will not attempt to establish a communication
link upon startup.
The recommended setting is ENABLED.
Default Control
State
This option allows you to define the default control state upon startup
of FmNT. The valid choices are:
OFFLINE/ATTEMPT ONLINE: At FmNT startup, an attempt to go
Online will be made.
OFFLINE/EQUIPMENT OFFLINE: At FmNT startup, the system
will remain OffLine. In this state, the host may not attempt to put
the system online. The operator must put the system online.
OFFLINE/HOST OFFLINE: At FmNT startup, the host will remain
OffLine. In this state, the operator may not put the system online.
The system can only go online by receiving a Go Online request
from the host.
ONLINE/LOCAL: At FmNT startup, the system will be in the Online
Local control state.
ONLINE/REMOTE: At FmNT startup, the system will be in the
Online Remote control state.
If Online Attempt Fails,
Go To
This option allows you to select what should be done if attempting to
go online fails for any reason. The valid choices are:
OFFLINE/HOST OFFLINE
OFFLINE/EQUIPMENT OFFLINE
The recommended setting is OFFLINE/HOST OFFLINE.
Beep until incoming
message
acknowledged
Activates a beep twice a second to notify the operator when an
Incoming Message from the host has been received. The operator
must go to the Terminal tab to view and acknowledge the message.
