Flow Rate Calibration
When dispensing weight control lines and dots (pots), it is necessary to perform a Flow Rate Calibration,
also referred to as Mass Flow Calibration (MFC). Flow Rate Calibration is a weight measurement system
that is used to calibrate the weight of fluid dispensed at given times and automatically adjust the flow rate
if needed. It is particularly useful as the viscosity of the fluid changes due to heat, time, and curing.
Valve Speed
Flow Rate is a function of valve speed. The higher the valve speed, the higher the flow rate and the
higher the flow rate, the faster the line speed. A good rule of thumb in selecting a flow rate is to start with
a valve speed of twenty-five (25) or ten percent (10%). See Figure 6-16. The screen will vary depending
upon the system configuration. The value is entered as a percent for X-1000 Series Dispensing Systems.
It is entered as a numerical value from 1-255 for all other machines. Increase the valve speed in ten
percent increments until you achieve the desired results.
" NOTE For additional information see “Creating a Table of Valve Speeds” in the
Advanced Programming section.
To set valve speed:
1. Click
Configuration from the Main Menu and then select Setup Valves.
