1-4 Introduction
FmNT Features
FmNT is designed for a wide range of users to simplify programming and testing of complex dispensing
routines that require explicit machine and fluid controls. Menu access is restricted by passwords, while
providing the user the flexibility needed to complete the job efficiently.
Some of the features that make FmNT a flexible and easy-to-use benchmark for dispensing system
software are briefly described below.
Advanced Fluid Management
Flowrate Max and Min Associated with Fluid Files
All dispensing programs have an associated fluid file, which defines the fluid characteristics. As an
option, the maximum and minimum fluid flow rate values can be saved with the fluid file. If the fluid file
is bundled with the dispensing program in a recipe, the flow rate range will be application dependent. See
“Fluid Setup” in the Programming Basics and Setup section.
Low Fluid Software Solution
For systems without hardware sensors to determine a low fluid condition, FmNT can estimate the fluid
usage by tracking dispensing events (dots, lines, purging, priming, flowrate calibration, etc.). A flowrate
calibration is required to use this feature. The fluid usage will be tracked by calculating the number of
milligrams used per operation. See “Fluid Setup” in the Programming Basics and Setup section.
Multiple Flow Rates
Multiple flow rates (Variable Valve Speed) can now be introduced into a dispensing program and
dispensing valves can be commanded to shift to pre-calibrated motor speeds in between dispenses. The
ability to adjust the valve speed through the software allows the programmer to achieve a target weight
while maintaining the fastest possible dispense speed for each unique line. Variable Valve Speed is
available on Asymtek's Millennium M-2000 and Axiom X-1000 Dispensing Systems. See “Variable
Valve Speed” in the Advanced Programming section.
Advanced Height Sense Options
The FmNT software can be programmed to perform a height sense on the workpiece to ensure an
adequate distance between the workpiece and the Dispensing Head. FmNT now supports the following
Height Sense options. Refer to “Height Sensor Setup” in the System Configuration and Setup section for
instructions on how to use each feature.
Batch Height Sensing Option
Some machine configurations (e.g. using the laser height sensor) can improve throughput by “batching”
the height sense operations at the beginning of the program. This can reduce the amount of XY travel
distance between dispensing and height sense operations. Using this new option, FmNT will scan the
dispensing program and execute each height sense command in the program, saving the data for later use.
