4-54 System Configuration and Setup
Initial Setup
Initial Setup should be performed on initialization of the system and after major hardware or software
changes. Initial Setup consists of establishing machine offset parameters. Machine offset parameters
include, but are not limited to, the following:
 Determining a Safe Needle Z Height
 Teaching the location of Service Stations (Purge and Scale Stations)
 Calibrating Needle-to-Height Sensor Probe Z Offset
 Calibrating Needle-to-Camera XY Offset
 Calibrating Height Sensor Probe-to-Camera XY Offset
There are several initial setup procedures an operator can choose from:
Valve Offsets Camera-Assisted Scripted Valve Offsets
Scripted Valve Offsets Calculate Master Offsets
All four procedures perform all necessary setup functions. It is important to run setup procedures as
recommended since incorrect offset parameters may cause dispensing system or workpiece damage. One
or more of these procedures may or may not be available on your particular dispensing system.
A setup routine is performed when the dispensing system is initially installed and configured, however, a
setup routine should be performed if any of the following events occur.
 Reinitialization or Reinstallation of System Software
 Software Update
 Valve Change (Not Syringe)
 Needle Change
 Camera Change or Location Adjustment
 Service Station (Purge And Scale Stations) Change or Location Adjustment
 Needle Sensor Change or Location Adjustment
 Height Sensor Change or Location Adjustment
"NOTE Initial Setup is not equivalent to a complete system reinstallation configuration
and setup procedure. If your system requires reinstallation, please call Asymtek
for assistance.
WARNING! CAUTION!
The Dispensing Head will move during the initial setup routines. Make sure the
dispensing area is clear of all obstacles prior to beginning any of the above
setup procedures.
