26 Maintenance and Service
Replacing the Flow Meter
If cleaning and replacing interior parts does not restore the flow meter to its original performance, it must
be replaced. Proceed as follows:
1. Obtain a new flow meter. Refer to Section
7 - Parts Replacement.
2. Remove the old flow meter as described in “
Removing the Flow Meter” in this section.
3. Refer to the installation instructions in Section
3 - Installation to install the new flow meter.
Replacing the FMS Cable
1. Remove the faulty FMS cable as follows:
a. Use a screwdriver to loosen the screw on the electrical cable connector located on top of
the flow meter (
Figure 5-1).
b. Disconnect the electrical cable from the flow meter.
c. Disconnect the multi-pin I/O connector of the cable from the Computer Interface Board in
the computer.
d. Disconnect the 24 VDC power connector from the Auxiliary DC connector on the Power
Manager.
2. Install replacement cables by following the instructions in Section
3 - Installation.
Computer Interface Board Replacement
CAUTION! Use proper Electrostatic Discharge precautions when handling the Computer
Interface Board and the CPU units. Failure to do so may cause irreversible
damage to the units.
1. Remove the interface board as follows:
a. Using a screwdriver, remove the screw securing the Computer Interface Board to the PCI
slot in the computer.
b. Carefully remove the Computer Interface Board from the computer.
2. Install a new replacement Computer Interface Board by following the instructions in Section
3 -
Installation.
Replacement of Gear, Shim, O-ring, and Ball Bearing
1. Remove the flow meter internal parts by following the disassembly instructions in
“
Disassembling the Flow Meter” to gain access to the faulty part.
2. Remove the faulty part.
3. Obtain a replacement part. Refer to Section
7 - Parts Replacement
4. Install the replacement part and reassemble the flow meter by following the instructions in
"
Reassembling the Flow Meter" in this section.
Fuse Replacement
There are no fuses to replace on the FMS.
