18 Operation
System Startup
1. Ensure the fluid system of the dispensing system is loaded with the selected coating material.
"NOTE A light flow of air is permitted to purge solvent from the fluid lines prior to loading
the coating material. Air pressure to the fluid reservoir should be less than 5 psi
for purging air through the fluid system. Too much airflow causes a humming or
whining sound from the flow meter gears. To alleviate this, decrease the air
pressure.
2. Power on the dispensing system as specified in the C-740/C-741 Installation, Operations,
and Maintenance Manual.
3. Open the Easy Coat software by double-clicking the Easy Coat
icon on the Windows
desktop.
4. Load the program you want to run and click on the Start button.
! Refer to "Easy Coat Programming" in this section for instructions on including flow
measurement commands in your coating program. For more detailed information, refer to
the Easy Coat User Guide.
5. After a brief initial test run, inspect the fluid for trapped air bubbles.
"NOTE Allow enough dispensing fluid to flow through the system until trapped air bubbles
are no longer present. Trapped air bubbles may contribute to false pulse readings by
the flow meter sensor.
CAUTION! Prolonged presence of air bubbles could signify dispensing irregularities that
could result in workpiece damage and should be resolved before continuous
automatic production.
Easy Coat Programming
To measure the flow rate during production, Begin Flow Measurement and End Flow Measurement
commands must be included in the dispensing program.
Begin Flow Measurement
starts measuring flow of coating through the flow meter. Each Begin Flow
Measurement instruction must have an End Flow Measurement instruction after it in the instruction list.
Coating instructions should be placed between the Begin and End Flow Measurement instructions.
The End Flow Measurement
instruction stops measuring the flow of coating through the flow meter,
and checks the flow meter counts against the minimum and maximum volume property settings. Each
End Flow Measurement instruction must have a Begin Flow Measurement instruction before it in the
instruction list. Coating instructions should be placed between the Begin and End Flow Measurement
instructions.
The amount dispensed is logged and also stored in the production database, which can be accessed by
selecting View > Data > Flow Monitoring from the Easy Coat Edit Screen.
