Overview
WARNING! Allow only Asymtek-trained personnel to perform the following tasks. Follow the
safety instructions in this document and all other related documentation.
This section describes the operation of the FWC system after the initial installation on the dispensing
system.
?NOTE Initialization and Calibration is an integral part of Operations.
Theory of Operation
The Fan Width Control (FWC) uses a fiber optic sensor to detect the conformal coating spray pattern
exiting the nozzle on the dispenser. The control software sends a signal to the Fan Width Enclosure
Pressure Controller, which increases the pressure to the Fluid Regulator until the light beam from the
fiber optic sensor is broken. When the spray pattern breaks the beam, the Fan Width Enclosure sends a
signal to the Robot Controller indicating the fan spray pattern reached the required width. The Robot
Controller stops sending the signal to the Pressure Controller and the fan width is set.
Next, the Robot Controller moves the dispenser, while spraying, back and forth in each direction to
determine if the spray pattern is centered with respect to the centerline of the dispenser. After the pattern
is checked and fits within the tolerance, the system can coat the board.
There are four modes of operation (teach, control, measure, and quick check) for the FWC. Consult the
ECNT Online Help file for complete descriptions of each mode of operation.
