Introduction 1-3
Fan Width Enclosure
The Fan Width Enclosure is a remote enclosure that sits on top of the dispensing system or other
convenient location. It is connected between the Sensor Fixture and the Robot Controller. The Fan Width
Enclosure contains the electronic components for the Fan Width Control. See Figure 1-2 and Figure 1-3.
The operator controls can be accessed on the front panel behind the window. Each of the components of
the Fan Width Enclosure is described below.
• Fiber Optic Sensor Amplifier: The Fiber Optic Sensor Amplifier allows adjustment for the
light beam sensitivity from the Fan Sensor to detect the fan spray pattern.
• Pressure Controller: The Pressure Controller is the interface between the Robot Controller
and the E/P Regulator located behind the control panel. It interprets digital signals from the
Robot Controller to increase or decrease the fluid pressure. The Pressure Controller
converts the digital command to an analog signal. The analog signal, which is proportional
to the pressure, is sent to the E/P Regulator and sets desired fluid pressure. The Pressure
Controller can be operated in the automatic or manual mode.
• E/P Regulator: The E/P Regulator converts the analog voltage signal from the Pressure
Controller to a fluid pressure level, which feeds the Fluid Pressure Regulator on the
dispensing system.
• Interface: All connections to the Sensor Fixture and the Robot Controller are made from
the back panel of the Fan Width Enclosure.
