Operation 33
i. Select Valve - Purge Needle from the Fluidmove Production Window drop-down menu.
See Figure 2-10.
! The dispensing head moves to the purge station and purges the pump for a preset
amount of time.
! If the pump seems to operate but no fluid flows from the needle, the purge duration
may be too short. Either conduct multiple purges or extend the purge duration.
! Once the purge is complete, the pump will automatically refill, flipping the flow control
stopcock down into the refill position and reversing the motor to refill the chamber.
When the chamber is full, the stopcock swings up to the dispense-ready position.
" NOTE When the DP-3000 is in the dispense-ready position, no fluid should flow or drip
from the needle, particularly when the stopcock rotates. If fluid is dripping from
the needle tip, repeat the priming procedure.
26. The DP-3000 is now ready to dispense.
Optimizing Operation
There are several hardware and software adjustments you can make to optimize the performance of your
DP-3000 pump. These adjustments are offered as suggestions only, and are not necessarily required for
normal pump operation.
Priming the Needle
It may be necessary to prime the needle when removing or changing it to prevent air bubbles in the
needle cavity, which can cause uneven fluid leaks. This applies particularly to high viscosity fluids. You
should also use the following procedure after priming the pump and before dispensing.
WARNING! Consult the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for all fluids used with the
dispensing system. The MSDS provides material usage instructions, disposal
instructions, and safety precautions. Always wear appropriate personal protective
equipment (PPE) as recommended by facility safety practices and the material
manufacturer’s MSDS.
To prime the needle:
1. Ensure that the Valve1 speed control is set at 4 or 5.
2. Hold the needle at an angle underneath the stopcock.
3. From the Fluidmove Main Window, click on Tools>I/O Test>Dispenser.
4. Toggle the Valve1 Forward I/O to ON.
5. Allow the needle to fill with a small amount of fluid.
6. Toggle the Valve1 Forward I/O to OFF.
7. Click Cancel.
8. Place the needle onto the pump.
! A small amount of fluid will be forced out through the needle.
