Instruction Manual
32 Operation
21. Connect a needle to the Luer lock hub on the bottom of the stopcock.
! Select a needle that is appropriate for your dispensing application. See “Optimizing
Operation” later in this section for more information on needle selection.
22. Set the fluid pressure between 40 and 80 psi, depending on your application.
! Refer to the dispensing system Operations Manual for instructions on adjusting fluid
pressure, if necessary.
23. Set the valve pressure to the effective range for your fluid.
! Contact Asymtek if you need assistance in determining a valve pressure range.
24. Perform either a Prompted Setup or a Valve Offsets routine depending on your system
configuration.
! Refer to the Fluidmove User Guide or Online Help, if necessary.
25. Perform the following steps to prime the DP-3000 and prepare for dispensing:
" NOTE We recommend that you prime the DP-3000 each time you change the syringe, if
the fluid dispenses unevenly or gaps during dispensing, or if the pump sputters or
spits during dispensing.
a. In the Fluidmove Main Window, click on Run a Program.
b. In the Production Window, select Setup.
c. Select Valve-Prime from the drop-down menu.
! The dispensing head will move after your response.
! The DP-3000 will perform a priming routine.
! A dialog box opens indicating that the “DP-3000 is busy priming/homing...” When this
dialog box closes, the DP-3000 is in the priming position.
d. Place a plastic cup under the priming port stopcock.
e. Open the priming port stopcock. (In the open position, the stopcock handle is vertical.)
Allow a small amount of fluid to escape into the cup (about 30 seconds).
! Highly viscous fluid may take a few moments to begin flowing from the priming port.
Such fluids should be primed for a longer duration to ensure that all air is removed
from the pumping chamber.
f. When you are confident that all of the air has been removed from the pumping chamber,
close the priming port stopcock.
g. Select Valve – DP2000/3000 Refill from the Fluidmove Production Window drop-down
menu. See Figure 2-10.
! The DP-3000 will perform a refill routine.
! A dialog box opens indicating that the “DP-3000 is busy priming/homing…” When this
dialog box closes, the DP-3000 is in the refilled position.
h. Briefly open and close the priming port stopcock one more time.
! This removes pressure from the priming sub-chamber.
! If this step is not performed, air may be forced back into the pumping chamber and
may cause leaking and poor dispensing.
