20 Operation
Purge or Purge Needle Infinite
This command applies to all Asymtek pumps and is used to prepare the pump and the dispensing needle
for dispensing. The dispenser moves to the Purge Station, the piston moves forward, pressing fluid from
the pumping chamber and into the purge station cup. Purge can only be invoked when the pump is in
Dispense-Ready condition.
Forward/Reverse
These commands allow the operator to turn on the motor and move the piston up or down for a specific
duration. They are mostly used for cleaning and troubleshooting procedures. Forward/Reverse is found in
the Run Window by selecting Setup from the menu bar, then selecting Valve Forward/Reverse from the
drop-down menu.
Hardware Controls
Hardware controls may only need to be set once, or can be changed at anytime to fit new requirements
for changing applications.
Valve Speed Controls and “Fast” Refill
Located on the Auxiliary Control Panel of M-600 Series systems (see Figure 3-3) and on the Control
Panel of Century Series systems (see Figure 3-4), Valve 1/Valve 2 Speed Controls allow you to vary the
DP-3000 motor speed, and thus vary the rate of dispensing. The Valve 1/Valve 2 Speed Controls have
numbered settings for process documentation using statistical process control (SPC).
A non-encoded DP-3000 refills at the same speed set for dispensing. The refill speed for an encoded
DP-3000 is controlled through a separate Valve Speed control inside of the lower front cabinet (see
Figure 3-5). Refer to your system Operations Manual for more Refill speed information.
Valve Speed is controlled through the Fluidmove software for Millennium M-2000 and Axiom X-1020
Series Dispensing Systems. Refer to the Fluidmove User Guide or Online Help for additional information.
Reset
Reset puts the DP-3000 into a Dispense-Ready condition, regardless of pump status at the time the
command is issued. Reset is issued automatically upon system start-up. You can also manually invoke
this command, if necessary, by pressing Reset on the Millennium Auxiliary Control Panel (see Figure 3-3),
Valve Reset on the Century Series Control Panel (see Figure 3-4), or through the I/O Test Window in
Fluidmove for Millennium M-2000 and Axiom X-1020 Series Dispensing Systems.
During reset, the stopcock swings down into the refill position. The pump motor runs in reverse, placing
the piston into priming position, then runs forward, refilling the pumping chamber and placing the piston
into the refilled position. The stopcock then swings up to dispense-ready position. As the pump runs
through a reset routine, the “Home” LED turns ON, then OFF.
