Operation Commands
There are several software commands and hardware controls critical to pump operation. The following
are brief descriptions of these commands and controls.
Software Commands
The Fluidmove software uses the following setup features and commands to operate the DP-3000 Series
Dispensing Pump.
• Setup Valve
• Prime
• Refill
• Purge or Purge Needle Infinite
• Forward/Reverse
Setup Valve
The Setup Valve feature is found on the Configuration menu in the Main Window of Fluidmove and
should be checked before creating a new dispensing program. Selecting Setup Valve from the
Configuration menu opens the Setup Valve dialog box where you will find information about the currently
installed valve as well as options for customizing the valve. Refer to the Fluidmove User Guide or Online
help for more information.
Prime
Prime is used to prepare the pump for dispensing or for removing air trapped in the dispense chamber.
The piston is raised above the normal pumping range and into the prime position, giving the fluid a clear
path from the syringe to the priming port so air can escape. Steps for initiating the Prime command
appear in “Using the DP-3000,” later in this section. You will use the Prime command as part of your
normal DP-3000 operating procedure.
During a priming routine, the stopcock swings down to the refill position. The motor runs in reverse,
placing the piston into the priming position. When the piston is in Prime position, the “Priming” LED is ON.
Refill
The refill command is used to refill the dispensing chamber with fluid. The default refill mode in Fluidmove
automatically invokes a refill command when the piston reaches the end of the travel limit and the
dispensing chamber is empty. You can change this default setting by clicking on Configuration in the
Fluidmove Main Window and selecting Setup Valves. In the Setup Valves dialog box, click on Edit then
click on Help for instructions on how to change the Auto-refill Mode.
A manual refill command is available on the Setup menu in the Fluidmove Programming Window. The
manual refill command allows you to place a refill command at a specific location within the dispensing
program based on fluid-use calculations. The Refill Valve command must be inserted into the dispensing
program at points where it is known that the pumping chamber is nearing empty. See “Automatic Refill”
later in this section.
During a refill procedure, the stopcock swings down to the refill position, (unless it is already in the refill
position). The motor runs in reverse, placing the piston into the refill position, which is indicated by the
“Home” LED turning ON then OFF. When the pumping chamber is refilled, the stopcock swings up into
dispense-ready position.
Refill speed is controlled by the Valve Speed Controls for the Millennium M-600 Series and Century
Series Dispensing Systems. See Figure 3-5. Valve Speed is controlled through the Fluidmove software
for Millennium M-2000 and Axiom X-1020 Series Dispensing Systems. Refer to the Fluidmove User
Guide or Online Help for additional information.
