Operation 17
Purging the DispenseJet
NOTE
This procedure is not necessary if you have just performed a Prompted Setup routine or
manually primed the DispenseJet.
Tools and Materials Needed:
• 0.050-inch hex key
• Tissue wipes
• Gloves
WARNING! Refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for handling, health, chemical,
safety, and disposal information for all fluids and materials before use. All fluids and
materials must be disposed of according to local regulations. Wear gloves to prevent
contact of caustic chemicals with skin.
To purge the lower body of air bubbles:
1. Remove the lid from the purge station.
2. Using the dispensing system XY-axis controls, position the DispenseJet over the purge station.
3. Align the purge screw over the center of the purge cup, located on the dispensing surface.
4. Use the 0.050-inch hex key to loosen the purge screw, and wait for fluid to flow from the hole at
the underside of the lower body. Do not completely remove the purge screw.
5. Purge for 10 to 15 seconds.
6. Tighten the purge screw and wipe the purge hole with a tissue.
Priming the DispenseJet
The priming procedure should be performed after initial installation and whenever the DispenseJet is
removed from the dispensing system and disassembled. It may also be used for troubleshooting purposes. If
dots are inconsistent or if the DispenseJet is not dispensing, you may want to perform the priming procedure
to release air that may be trapped in the DispenseJet fluid chamber. The DispenseJet is automatically
primed as part of the Prompted Setup routine.
Tools and Materials Needed:
• Small to medium Hex key
• Torque Wrench, preset to 4 in./lb. (available through Nordson ASYMTEK)
• Cloth or tissue
To manually prime the DispenseJet:
1. Remove the lid from the purge station.
2. Using the torque wrench, unscrew the nozzle on the bottom of the DispenseJet.
3. Insert a small hex key into the hole underneath the solenoid, push upward to raise the pin, and
hold for approximately 30 to 60 seconds.
Fluid releases through the needle/seat orifice.
