2-6 Introduction
Front View Features
Following are short descriptions of the various parts and modules of the C-718SMT system
(Figure 2-1, Figure 2-2 and Figure 2-3). Detailed operation instructions for some features
are covered in other sections.
Computer System (computer, monitor, keyboard, mouse)
The Computer System is used to create and run dispensing programs with the Asymtek
dispensing software Fluidmove
®
for Windows NT (FmNT).
Control Panel
The Control Panel mainly uses membrane buttons. The Panel is organized to control
certain programming and run functions via three functional areas: Download Program
Control, Motion Control, and Safety Interlock Control. From the Panel you can move the
dispensing head, move the conveyor belts and rails, enable the Safety Interlock system,
make an emergency stop, check dispensing status, and adjust valve controls.
Conveyor
The specific type of conveyor and dimensions on your system may be customized for your
application. All dispensing systems with conveyors are SMEMA compatible. The Control
Panel and Fluidmove software control the conveyor. C-730 Flux dispensing systems use
belt conveyors.
Conveyor Controller
The Conveyor Controller module monitors the SMEMA interface and controls the
conveyor indexing operations. The inputs and outputs are used for sensors, stop pins, bar
clamps and operation of the conveyor. For more information on the conveyor, see Section
4-Operation.
Dispensing Head
The Dispensing Head moves in the XYZ planes. It is controlled by the dispensing system
software and the Control Panel. The fluid pump, vision system, and height sensor are
attached to the Dispensing Head.
EMO
In emergencies, this large, red “mushroom” button shuts down power to the Control Panel,
the dispensing mechanics, conveyor, and temperature controller. It does NOT shut down
power to the computer, monitor.
Fluid Pressure Gauge and Regulator
The Fluid Pressure Gauge indicates the air pressure supplied to the syringe or external
reservoir. The Fluid Pressure Regulator is located on the Fluid Control Panel in front of the
conveyor. See the appropriate fluid pump manual for the recommended setting for your
pump.
Fluid Pump
The fluid pump (also referred to as a “valve” or “jet”, depending on the type) dispenses the
fluid onto the part. It mounts on the dispensing head, and holds the syringe of dispensing
fluid. For more information, see the appropriate fluid pump manual.
Front Doors
The front doors (shown but not called out) have an electrostatic, dissipative surface that
does not hold an electrostatic charge. Door sensors connect the front doors to the Safety
Interlock system.
Grounding Strap Connector
The operator’s grounding strap plugs into this connection to prevent Electrostatic
Discharge (ESD).
