operating the system.
Overview
The C-720 is a batch process dispensing system that supports a variety of Advanced
Semiconductor Package Assembly (ASPA) and Surface Mount Technology (SMT)
applications. Typically, dispensing processes involve each of the critical operations listed
below. The way in which each is accomplished may vary, depending upon system
configuration.
Theory of Operation
In this theory of operation, the basic C-720 configuration is considered. However, your
detailed system operation may vary slightly depending on the fluid pump and options
selected.
During operational setup, the operator places parts in the system. After execution and
completion of the dispensing program, the operator removes the parts. During production,
the dispensing head is controlled by the Fluidmove software. Dispensing programs are
created using Fluidmove. The vision system, height sensor (option), and needle sensor work
with the software to provide high-quality dispensing performance. During dispensing, the
fluid is forced pneumatically into the pump from the syringe, is heated, and exits through the
nozzle or needle. The pump actions are controlled by Fluidmove, and the heating is
controlled by the temperature controller.
For more information on the fluid pump or Fluidmove software, see Section 1 Getting
Started. For more information on the vision system, height sensor, needle sensor and needle
heater, see applicable sections following Section 8 in this manual.
