Glossary 17-1
17 Glossary
ABCD Box: Connects the computer to the
upstream and downstream Free-Standing Loaders
(FSL’s). It is used when programming the FSL’s.
ACL: Automove Control Language.
ANAFAZE CLS Controller: Compact Loop
System that controls the dispensing area heaters,
needle heaters, and the fluid cooling system.
ANASOFT: Software program that runs the
ANAFAZE CLS Controller.
Area-Fill: Dispensing lines of fluid within a
geometric pattern to completely cover an area.
Auerboat: A metal material handling plate used
to transport parts into automated systems.
Automatic Fiducial Locating System: A vision
system that finds fiducials and compensates for
small changes on a workpiece during dispensing.
Automove Control Language (ACL): An
Asymtek proprietary motion control language
consisting of commands that control all
components of the dispensing systems.
Axis: X, Y or Z geometric dispensing coordinates.

Back EMF: Electromotive Force – electrical
current continually sent back to controller for
consistent fluid flow.
Beacon: Optional. A status indicator attached to
the top of a dispensing system. Colored lights
indicate system status.
CAD: Stands for Computer Aided Design.
Camera Offset: The calibration of the XYZ
location of the camera with the dispensing needle.
Chip Offset: The distance between the edge of a
chip and the start of the dispense. This distance is
calculated as 1/2 the needle diameter plus 5 mil.
Circuit Breaker: An automatic switch that cuts
the electrical supply to the system when the power
exceeds the set level.
Cognex Circuit Board: Used in the computer
along with the Video Card to run the Vision
System.
Conveyor Atom: A set of ACL commands that
controls the conveyor.
Crosshairs: Two lines intersecting at a 90° angle
in the center of the video display on the computer
monitor. Used to align dispensing points.
Dispense Head: The dispense head is what moves
during dispensing operation. The valve, height
sensor and similar options attach to the dispense
head.
Dispenser Control Panel: The front control
panel on most dispensing systems; has buttons for
controlling movement of the dispensing head.
Dispensing Runs (Wet/Dry): A wet dispensing
run is when fluid is dispensed. A dry run is when
the program is executed but no fluid is dispensed.
Dispense Zone: The part of the dispensing area
where dispensing is actually performed.
Dispensing Fluid Reservoir: The reservoir
containing the dispensing fluid. It can be a
syringe or cartridge.
Download Memory: Information downloaded
from the computer to the dispensing system.
Electrostatic Discharge (ESD): The sudden
transfer of static electricity from one object to
another.
Emergency Shutdown: Dispensing machine is
stopped suddenly before ending program or
without using Pause Button.
EMF: Electromotive Force.
Encap Module: Controls safety thermocouples,
temperature sensors and safety interlocks for all
heating systems used by the M-ENCAP machine.
End of Shift: When the Operator ends dispensing
for the day and turns off the dispensing machine.
