Needle Heater 12-11
Operation Controls and Adjustments
If you are running FmNT and using the Needle Heater on a Millennium Series dispensing
system or a C-720 with a 4-channel temperature controller, the Fluidmove software
controls the Needle Heater. In most cases, the Needle Heater is configured for your
application at the Asymtek factory. However, if you need to modify the setup, follow the
instructions below.
To setup the Needle Heater on a Millennium Series system equipped with heaters:
1. Start FmNT.
2. In the Main Window, click on Tools.
3. In the Tools Window, click on Terminal.
4. Click on Heaters.
The Heater Control Window opens.
5. See On-line Help for information on heater loop setup.
If you are using the Needle Heater on a Millennium Series dispensing system not equipped
with heaters or on a Century Series system with a temperature controller, follow the
instructions below to setup the Needle Heater.
The HT-1000, HT-1200-RTD and HT-2000 Temperature Controllers have a digital
display, control buttons and one power switch on the front panel (see Figure 12-5). The
Process Value (PV) indicates the actual temperature of the heating element. The Set Value
(SV) is the desired temperature. Using the HT-1000 and HT-2000, you can set the
temperature from ambient to 100°C (212°F) with 3°C (5.4°F) accuracy. Using the HT-
1200-RTD, you can set the temperature from ambient to 65°C (149°F) with 3°C (5.4°F)
accuracy. The Set Value is set at the Asymtek factory, however you may change it at any
time.
To turn the temperature controller ON:
1. Follow proper procedures to turn ON your dispensing system.
2. If using the HT-2000 Temperature Controller, consult your service technician to see
what other system elements it controls.
3. Make certain that the heating element is present.
4. Turn ON (I) the power switch on the front panel of the temperature controller.
To turn only the temperature controller OFF:
Turn OFF (0) the power switch on the front panel of the temperature controller.
