The NSZ Series Needle Sensor includes a Load Cell, which is used to calculate the Z-
height of the needle tip during the Valve Offsets routine in Fluidmove. The Load Cell also
determines the offset between the needle tip and the height sensor probe tip.
Both types of Needle Sensors use a fiber optic LED and an infrared sensor to locate the
XYZ coordinates of the needle for Fluidmove. The Needle Sensor is also used to determine
the XYZ location of the Height Sensor Probe in relation to the needle. These coordinates
are sent to Fluidmove, which uses them during the programming process and during
production runs.
The Needle Sensor routine lets you change needles and continue production without
reprogramming the dispensing system. It can automatically compensate for XYZ changes
in needle location due to a needle change or bent needle between production runs, thus
minimizing operator error and eliminating time wasted adjusting the needle manually.
? NOTE The Needle Sensor does not compensate for XYZ location
changes in parts, substrates, tooling or fixtures.
