Height Sensor 10-11
Z-Axis Velocity and Acceleration
The Z-Axis velocity and acceleration control the speed and acceleration of the lowering and
raising of the dispensing head during a height sense measurement. Adjusting the Z-Axis
velocity and acceleration can improve throughput by decreasing the time for a height sense
measurement.
?
NOTE
At the factory, Z-Axis velocity is set at 2 in. per second, and Z-Axis
acceleration is set at 300 in. per second.
To adjust the Z-Axis velocity and acceleration in FmNT:
1. In the Main Window, click on Configuration.
2. Select Setup Height Sensor.
The Height Sensor Setup dialog box opens.
3. Enter values for Z-Axis velocity and acceleration.
4. Consult On-line Help for assistance.
TIP
A slow velocity (1 in/sec) and a high acceleration value (300 in/sec
2
,
for example) produce the most accurate height sensing
measurements.
TIP
Velocities above 2 in/sec and accelerations above 300 in/sec
2
can
result in large repeatability errors. See “Specifications” on page 10-
14 for more information.
