Glossary
ACL:
Abbreviation for Automove Control
Language.
Automatic Fiducial Locating System:
A
vision system that finds fiducials and
compensates for small changes on a
workpiece during dispensing.
Automove Control Language:
An
Asymtek proprietary motion control
language consisting of commands that
control all components of the dispensing
systems.
Axis:
X, Y or Z geometric dispensing
coordinates. See Figure G-1.
Figure G-1 - XYZ Axes
Beacon:
An optional safety device usually
attached to the top of a dispensing system.
Colored lights indicate system status.
CAD:
Stands for Computer Aided Design.
Dispensing Head:
The dispensing head is
what moves during dispensing operation.
The valve, height sensor and similar options
attach to the dispensing head.
Dispensing Fluid Reservoir:
The reservoir
contains the dispensing fluid. It may be a
syringe or cartridge.
E-Stop:
Emergency Stop button. Cuts
power to the dispensing system only. Does
not turn off heaters or power to the Power
Manager.
Fiducial:
An artifact used to locate a board
or part.
Fluidmove:
Asymtek proprietary fluid
dispensing software. Fluidmove is available
in both DOS
and Windows
operating
systems.
Height Sensor:
A dispensing system sensor
that finds a workpiece’s height with a rapid
tap of the probe on the substrate surface and
records the value.
Home:
A reference point defined as (0, 0, 0)
in an XYZ coordinate system in the
dispensing area. On Asymtek systems, the
default home position is the front left hand
corner of the dispensing area.
Interlock Safety System:
A key activated
device used to restrict access to the inside of
the dispensing system.
I/O:
Input/Output. Communication between
one component or device and another.
kPa:
Air pressure measured in kilos per
square one thousand Pascals.
LED:
Light-Emitting-Diode. The needle
sensor has an LED indicator light.
Needle Heater:
Consists of a temperature
controller and a heater element attachment
that heat the dispensing needle.
Needle Sensor:
A sensor located near the
dispensing area that records the XYZ
location of the needle tip.
