Lockout of Electrical and Pneumatic Energy
Axiom X-1000 Series Dispensing System electrical and pneumatic components have been designed in
accordance with industry-wide safety standards. However, precautions must still be taken whenever
personnel may be exposed to the unexpected power-up and pressurization of the equipment, or release of
hazardous electrical or pneumatic energy during any of the following operations:
• Inspection and Maintenance of Equipment
• Tooling Changes
• Servicing
WARNING! Personnel working on or around the dispensing system should know the location
of all electrical power supply sources.
WARNING! CAUTION!
Lock out and tag out electrical power and pneumatic pressure when performing
service or maintenance work on the dispensing system. Failure to do so could
cause serious injury to the user and/or serious damage to the dispensing system.
To lock out/tag out AC power and pneumatic pressure (see Figure 2-8):
1. Perform a “
Service Shutdown” as specified in this section.
2. Lock a keyed padlock or other locking device to the locking flange of the Main Power Inlet.
! The shackle of the locking device must have a diameter that will completely fill the hole
of the locking flange and prevent switching of the Circuit Breaker. This ensures the
dispensing system cannot be operated until the locking device is removed.
" NOTE Usually, only the technician who placed the lock on the dispensing system is authorized
to remove it at the completion of the task. If multiple personnel are performing work on a
dispensing system, a multiple lock out device should be used to ensure that power cannot
be turned on until all personnel have completed their tasks.
3. Attach prominent warning tags to the lock on the Main Power Inlet and Main Air Inlet.
! The warning tag documents the name of the authorized technician taking the equipment
out of operation, the date, 24-hour contact phone numbers, and other facility-required
information. It is a warning to others that the equipment cannot be put back into operation
until the authorized technician has removed the tag and the lock.
