Scale Communications Verification
1. Connect the Power Cable to facility outlet, switch Main Circuit Breaker to
ON (I), and press the green
ON (I) button on the Operator’s Console. (Do not enter FmNT).
2. In Windows NT, open HyperTerminal as follows:
a. Click on
Start > Programs > Accessories > HyperTerminal.
b. Click on the
HyperTerminal icon.
c. In the Connection Description dialog box, enter a name.
d. In the Connect To dialog box, select
Using COM1.
e. In the Com1 Properties dialog box, enter the settings shown in Table 8-43 and then click
OK.

3. Click on the Settings tab and then select ASCII Setup.
4. Select the
Echo typed characters locally checkbox.
5. Click
OK and then OK again.
6. Type [P], press [Enter], and observe if the Scale responds with a numeric value.
7. Did the Scale respond with a value?

8. Close HyperTerminal.
9. Open the NDSNcomm.ini. file as follows:
a. Click on
Start, click on Programs, and click on Windows NT Explorer.
b. Browse to
C:\FmNT.
c. Open
NDSNcomm.ini.
