8-64 Troubleshooting
Linear Encoder Mechanical Verification
1. Visually inspect for damage the X-axis Linear Encoder Cable (P/N 194985, top) and Y-axis Linear
Encoder Cable (P/N 194986, bottom) connected to the XY Servo Interface PWA at connection J23.
2. Are the Cables damaged?
Go to Step 3
Cable(s) (P/N 194985, 194986) have failed. See Parts Replacement section.
3. Manually verify that the X and Y-axis Linear Encoder Cables are securely connected to the XY Servo
Interface PWA at J23.
4. Are the Linear Encoder Cables securely connected?
Secure the Cables before proceeding.
Go to Step 5
5. Visually inspect for damage the Rubber Seal that runs the length of the guide of Linear Encoders.
6. Are the Rubber Seals of the Linear Encoders damaged?
Go to Step 7
Y Linear Encoder (P/N 194986) and/or X Linear Encoder (P/N 194985) has
failed. See
Parts Replacement section.
7. Using the Linear Encoder Alignment Tool (P/N 194983), check correct gap between the Linear
Encoder Guide and the Reader. Refer to the Calibration and Adjustment section of this manual.
8. Using the Linear Encoder Alignment Tool (P/N 194983), check correct alignment between the Linear
Encoder Guide and X-axis Beam. Refer to the Calibration and Adjustment section of this manual.
9. Are the Linear Encoders in need of adjustment or alignment?
Go to X-axis Linear Encoder Verification in
this subsection.
Go to “Adjusting Linear Encoder Gap” in the
Calibration and Adjustment
section of this manual.
