Table 7-4 Dispensing Head Z-axis Movement
Component Function
FmNT Software Commands Dispensing Head Z-axis movement.
PMAC Card 1. Receives FmNT command to move
Dispensing Head to a specific Z-axis position.
2. Sends low-voltage direction and power level
output signals to the Z Servo Amplifier.
3. Receives feedback from Z Motor Rotary
Encoder (velocity).
4. Calculates how much power should be
delivered to Z Servo Motor.
Main Interface PWA An intermediate step as information is
communicated between the PMAC Card and the
XY Servo Interface PWA.
XY Servo Interface PWA Relays PMAC signals to the Z Servo
Interface PWA.
Z Servo Interface PWA Relays PMAC signals from the XY Servo Interface
PWA to the Z Servo Amplifier.
Z Servo Amplifier 1. Receive PMAC low-voltage motor direction
and power signals from the PMAC through the
Z Servo Interface PWA.
2. Amplifies PMAC signals into high power level
to move the Z Servo Motor.
3. Receives and interprets Hall Sensor feedback
that indicates direction the motor is turning.
4. Regulates power to motor windings to cause
motor to move in the desired direction.
Z Servo Motor 1. Receives power from the Z Servo Amplifier.
2. Turns the drive gear (pinion) that moves the
Dispensing Head in the Z-axis.
Z Rotary Encoder Supplies velocity and acceleration information to
the PMAC.
Z Hall Sensor Senses rotational direction of Z Servo Motor
windings and reports it to the Z Servo Amplifier.
