7-4 Theory of Operations
Table 7-1 Dispensing System Operational Sequence (continued)
5. Programmed dispensing
preparations are performed.
(Preparations performed may
be different depending on
your application.)
a. The Dispensing Head moves to the Purge Station and a
Dispensing Valve purge is performed.
b. If required, fluid may be heated by a Needle Heater
(DJ 2100, DP-3000, and DV-7000 Dispensing Valves).
c. The Vision System locates master fiducials on the workpiece.
Fiducials are located as reference points for the dispensing
patterns.
d. The Dispensing Head moves in Z-axis and Height Sensor
probe is lowered until the Probe senses the substrate height.
This establishes the dispense gap based on the dispense
gap setting in FmNT.
e. Flowrate calibration is performed.
6. Fluid is dispensed. a. The fluid is dispensed onto the workpiece according to a pre-
programmed dispensing pattern. Refer to the FmNT User
Guide for programming details.
7. The workpiece leaves the
Dispense Station.
a. When dispensing is complete, the Stop Pin is disengaged,
the Lift Table lowers, and the workpiece is conveyed to the
Post-Dispense Station or out of the dispensing system.
> If the downstream machine is not ready for the workpiece
or the process requires the workpiece to be post-heated,
go to Step 8.
> If the downstream machine is ready and the process
does not require post-heating, the workpiece is conveyed
out of the dispensing system. Go to Step 9.
8. The workpiece arrives at the
Post-dispense Station.
a. A Stop Pin is engaged to stop workpiece transport.
b. A Board Sensor detects the workpiece.
c. The Lift Table rises to hold the workpiece in place.
d. The workpiece may be heated if required by the application.
9. The workpiece is conveyed
out of the dispensing system.
a. The dispensing system communicates with the downstream
machine via the SMEMA connection signaling that it is ready
to send a workpiece.
b. When the dispensing system receives the downstream
“machine ready” signal, the Stop Pin disengages, the Lift
Table lowers, and the workpiece is conveyed out of the
dispensing system.
