Calibration and Adjustment 6-27
Heater Calibration
To provide precise heating of the workpiece to the required temperature for the application of dispensing
fluid, the Heater Tooling and Needle Heaters must be calibrated.
The temperature differential (offset) between the programmed temperature value and the actual
temperature being applied to the workpiece or fluid must be determined and entered into the software.
Temperature differentials are due to thermal barriers such as airflow, the carrier, and the substrate or
may be the result of RTD signal inaccuracy.
The Heaters must be calibrated in order that the temperature programmed as the set point in FmNT is the
same as the heat being applied to the workpiece or fluid.
WARNING! The Heaters will be hot and can cause serious injury. Use extreme caution when
measuring Heater temperature.
Tools and Materials Needed
• Calibrated Temperature Measuring Device
To calibrate the Heater Tooling:
1. In the FmNT Main Window, click on
Tools.
2. In the Tools Window, click on
Terminal.
3. Click on
Heaters.
4. In the Heater Control Window, locate the loops (channels) for the Heaters installed on your
system. See Figure 5-19 in the Power-up and Testing section of this manual.
5. Verify that the messages for all the Heaters read
OK.
> If the Heater Control Window shows an open loop message (RTD Break), open the
dispensing system Hatch and recheck all Heater connections. Then, close the Hatch and
repeat this step. If the open loop message still appears, refer to the Troubleshooting
section of this manual before proceeding with this procedure.
6. Set the Heater set point (SP) to the values shown in Table 6-2.
