3-32 Component Description
3.9 Fluid Heaters
There are two basic types of fluid heater that are used with your Axiom X-1000 Dispensing System:
Needle Heater (DV-8000 and DP-3000 Series Dispensing Valves)
Thermal Control Assembly (DJ-9000 Series DispenseJet)
These heaters heat dispensing fluids to maintain a consistent viscosity and flowrate, and reduce fluid
stringing problems. The Fluidmove software works in conjunction with the conveyor/heater controller in
the lower front cabinet and the dispense head controller to control the heaters.
Heater temperature is set in the Fluidmove software. The dispense head controller monitors the
thermocouple (TC) or resistive temperature detector (RTD) readout, compares it to the heat parameters
set in Fluidmove, and regulates the voltage going to the heating element to maintain the set temperature.
See Figure 3-18.

3.9.1 Needle Heater
The needle heater (Figure 3-19) is attached to a Luer Lock fitting through which fluid flows to the needle
on DV-8000, and DP-3000 dispensing valves. To operate the needle heater, refer to 4.6.1 Needle Heater
Operation. Refer to Section 7 – Specifications for needle heater performance specifications.
3.9.1.1 Needle Heater Installation
To install the needle heater:
1. Verify that the Dispensing Head is at the top of its Z-axis travel and at the front of the
dispensing chamber.
If not in position, use the Fluidmove position controls to move the dispensing head as
specified in the Operation section of this manual.
2. Press
OFF (0) on the operator’s console and open the hatch.
