SETTING TIMEOUT FOR AUTOMATIC
SYSTEM SUSPENSION
The Power Manager suspends your PL3000 after the third inactivity period has
elapsed. In fact, after the three inactivity timers have expired in succession. The
third inactivity period is called ‘Suspend Timeout’. The other twos are ‘User Idle
Timeout’ and ‘System Idle Timeout’. The ‘Suspend Timeout’ settings value
determines how long the device can remain idle before the system will
automatically power down itself. The idleness in this context means that neither a
user operates the device nor a business application prevents the device from
powering down. Be aware that application traffic over the wireless link does not
stop automatic suspension from occurring, but ActiveSync does.
Hint: You can disable automatic suspension by setting the ‘Suspend
Timeout’ to ‘Never’.
Before you begin, open the ‘Power’ control panel applet (see the section
‘Control Panel’ on page 30).
To set the timeout value for the
automatic suspension:
1. Select ‘Schemes‘ page by tapping
the ’Schemes’ tab
2. Select ’Battery Power’ from the
‘Power Scheme’ list.
3. Select the ’System Idle Timeout’
value being appropriate for your
needs
4. Press the ‘ok’ key; new timeout value
is set.
