To adjust the brightness of the screen:
1. Tap on the ‘Misc‘ tab, if the ‘Misc’
page is not in view on the screen
2. Drag the ‘Backlight’ slider using the
stylus to find appropriate brightness
level
3. Press the ‘ok’ key; the brightness
adjustment is finished.
Selecting Operation Mode
of Screen Backlight
Before you begin, open the ‘NID Backlight’ control panel applet (see the
section ‘Control Panel’ on page 30).
On your PL3000 the screen backlight can
operate in three modes. A ‘Constant off’
mode switches off the screen backlight. The
other two modes may be more applicable to
your application in most cases. These two
modes are linked to the system power states,
meaning that when the system enters the
power state to which the backlight mode is
linked, the system turns off the backlight. A
‘Constant on’ mode links the backlight
blanking to the ‘SystemIdle’ state. In practice,
the ‘Constant on’ mode means that the
system turns off the screen backlight and the
screen at the same time. An ‘Auto on-off’
mode links the backlight blanking to the
‘UserIdle’ power state. (For further information

Setting Timeout for Automatic Screen Backlight
Blanking
The backlight of the color backlit screen is a drain on the power. For that
reason, the power manager can be configured to reduce power consumption on
PL3000 by switching off the screen backlight before switching off the screen itself.
In the ‘Auto on/off’ operation mode (default mode; for further information, see the
section ‘Selecting Operation Mode of Screen Backlight’ above), the screen
backlight is turned off when your PL3000 remains idle without any user input either
a key press or stylus tapping on the screen for the specified ‘User Idle Timeout’
