Setting Default Mode of Alphanumeric Keypad
The factory default of the alphanumeric keypad mode is numeric, that is, every
keystroke of the alphanumeric keys enters only numbers on the display by default.
In this context the default keypad mode means that after rebooting the device
(warm, cold, hardware, or reloading the system) the alphanumeric keypad is in its
default mode. This default mode can be changed with the help of the ‘NID Keypad’
control panel applet.
Before you begin, open the ‘NID Keypad’ control panel applet (see section
‘Control Panel’ on page 30).
To change the default mode of the
alphanumeric keys:
1. Select the ‘Misc’ tab in the NID
Keypad applet
2. Select ‘Input mode’ of your choice.
3. Tap the ‘OK’ button on the title bar;
the task is finished.
Enabling/Disabling Backlight Indication of
Alphanumeric Keypad Selectors
By default the mode selectors of the
alphanumeric keypad (for more information,
see the section ‘Mode Selectors of
Alphanumeric Keypad’ on page 20)
communicate in their backlights to a user in
which mode the alphanumeric keypad is. If
you want to disable that backlight indication
you can do it with the help of the ‘NID
Keypad’ control panel applet. On the ‘Misc’
page there are two checkboxes, ‘Input mode
light’ and ‘Function light’. When you
uncheck either of them you can see the result
of that on the keypad immediately. As you
may expect, the Function light means the ‘F’
key and the Input mode light means both the
‘123’ and the ‘abc’ key.
