Restoring PL3000 to Factory Defaults
If your PL3000 does not operate as you may expect, or if you just want to start
from scratch, in that case, the Registry Backup utility gives an option to clear all the
changes you or your application have made permanent in the registry database.
See also the section ‘FLASH DIRECTORY’ on page 27.
Note! Despite the fact that you have not saved your configuration
changes in the persistent memory, the changes can be persistent
because some part of the system called the ‘RegFlushKey’ function.
Before you begin, open the Registry Backup utility; see ‘Accessing Registry
Backup’.
To restore PL3000 to its factory
defaults:
1. Set keypad focus on the ‘Restore
Factory Registry’ button by the
‘down-arrow’ button
2. Read WARNING!’ the Registry
Backup utility shows in the window
3. Press the ‘ok’ key; the Registry
Backup gives you the last chance to
go back on the operation by pressing
the ‘esc’ key
4. Press the ‘ok’ key; the Registry
Backup removes the persistent add-ons from the registry and cold-boots
your device
After your PL3000 is up and running, all the changes to the default contents of
the registry database are gone except the registry settings in the *.PAK file(s) in the
Flash folder.
Note! The *.PAK files in the ‘Flash’ directory may also contain Registry
settings that the system views as permanent settings. Even though you
restored the contents of the registry to the factory defaults using the
Registry Backup, the registry settings included in the *.PAK file(s) remain
in the registry database after the cold boot.
