SWITCH ON SAFELY Do not switch the device on when wireless phone use is prohibited or when it may cause interference or danger. ROAD SAFETY COMES FIRST Obey all local laws. Always keep your hands free to operate the vehicle while driving. Your first consideration while driving should be road safety.

Make it your phone Insert a memory card Use only compatible microSD cards approved by Nokia for use with this device. Nokia uses approved industry standards for memory cards, but some brands may not be fully compatible with this device. Incompatible cards may damage the card and the device and corrupt data stored on the card. You phone supports microSD cards of up to 16 GB. 1 Switch the device off, and remove the back cover and battery. 2 3 Connect the charger to the device.
Make it your phone Contact with antennas affects the communication quality and may cause a higher power level during operation and may reduce the battery life. The figure shows the antenna area marked in grey. Headset Warning: Continuous exposure to high volume may damage your hearing. Listen to music at a moderate level, and do not hold the device near your ear when the loudspeaker is in use. Warning: When you use the headset, your ability to hear outside sounds may be affected.
Make it your phone Network services To use the phone you must have service from a wireless service provider. Many of the features require special network features. These features are not available on all networks; other networks may require that you make specific arrangements with your service provider before you can use the network services. Your service provider can give you instructions and explain what charges will apply.

To view or change the security module settings for the browser, select Menu > Settings > Security > Security module sett.. 9 Display Switch the device on and off Switch on and off Press and hold the power key. Enter the PIN code If requested, enter the PIN code (displayed as ****). Set the time and date If requested, enter the date, the local time, and the time zone and the daylight saving time of your location.
Make it your phone Display > Active standby > Active standby mode. In the active standby mode, scroll up or down to navigate in the list, and select Select or View. The arrows indicate that further information is available. To stop navigation, select Exit. To organise and change the active standby mode, select Options and from the available options. Shortcuts in the standby mode List of dialled numbers Press the call key once. To make a call, scroll to the number or name, and press the call key.
Make it your phone Warning: With the Flight profile you cannot make or receive any calls, including emergency calls, or use other features that require network coverage. To make calls, you must first activate the phone function by changing profiles. If the device has been locked, enter the lock code.
Make it your phone Security settings When security features that restrict calls are in use (such as call barring, closed user group, and fixed dialling), calls may be possible to the official emergency number programmed into your device. Call barring and call diverting cannot be active at the same time. Select Menu > Settings > Security and from the following: PIN code request or UPIN code request — to request for your PIN or UPIN code every time the phone is switched on.

Make it your phone To set the language, select Menu > Settings > Phone > Language settings > Recognition lang. and your language. To train the voice recognition to your voice, select Menu > Settings > Phone > Voice recognition > Voice recog. training. To activate a voice command for a function, select Menu > Settings > Phone > Voice recognition > Voice commands, a feature, and the function. indicates that the voice command is activated. To activate the voice command, select Add.

PC connection to the internet Use Bluetooth technology to connect your compatible PC to the internet without PC Suite software. Your phone must have activated a service provider that supports internet access, and your PC has to support Bluetooth personal area network (PAN).
1 2 3 Make it your phone Connect a compatible adapter cable to the USB port of your device. Connect the USB storage to the adapter cable. Select Menu > Gallery and the USB device to browse. Note: Not all USB storage devices are supported, depending on their power consumption. Network provider services Your network provider provides several additional services you may want to use. For some of these services, charges may apply. Operator menu Access a portal to services provided by your network operator.

Stay in touch Make calls Make a voice call You can start a call in several ways: Manual dialling Enter the phone number, including the area code, and press the call key.

As voice commands are languagedependent, before voice dialling, you must select Menu > Settings > Phone > Language settings > Recognition lang. and your language. Note: Using voice tags may be difficult in a noisy environment or during an emergency, so you should not rely solely upon voice dialling in all circumstances. 1 2 In the standby mode, press and hold the right selection key.

1 2 Stay in touch Start writing a word, using the keys 2 to 9. Press each key only once for one letter. To confirm a word, scroll right or add a space. If the word is not correct, press * repeatedly, and select the word from the list. • If the ? character is displayed after the word, the word you intended to write is not in the dictionary. To add the word to the dictionary, select Spell. Enter the word using traditional text input, and select Save.
Stay in touch 4 5 To attach content to the message, scroll to the attachment bar at the bottom of the display and select the desired type of content. To send the message, press Send. The message type is indicated at the top of the display and changes automatically depending on the content of the message. 21 To save the sent messages in the Sent items folder, select Menu > Messaging > Message settings > General settings > Save sent messages. The phone saves received messages in the Inbox folder.
3 4 Stay in touch To attach a file, select Options > Insert and from the available options. If more than one e-mail account is defined, select the account from which you want to send the e-mail. To send the e-mail, select Send. Read an e-mail and reply Important: Exercise caution when opening messages. Messages may contain malicious software or otherwise be harmful to your device or PC. 1 2 3 4 To download e-mail message headers, select Menu > Messaging and your e-mail account.
Image and video 4 To send the message, select Send.
Image and video Effects — Apply different effects (for example, greyscale and false colour) to the captured image. White balance — Adapt the camera to the current light conditions. Format the memory card Some supplied memory cards are preformatted; others require formatting. When you format a memory card, all data on the card is permanently lost. Settings — Change other camera and video settings, and select the image and video storage.
Entertainment 2 Select the image you want to print and Options > Print. Share images and videos online Share images and video clips in compatible online sharing services on the web. To use online sharing, you must subscribe to an online sharing service. To upload an image or a video clip to an online sharing service, select the file from Gallery and Options > Send > Upload to web.
Entertainment Play songs Operate the music player with the virtual keys on the display. Start playing Select . Pause playing Select . Adjust the volume Press the scroll key up or down. Skip to the next song Select . Skip to the beginning of the previous song twice Select Fast-forward Select and hold Rewind Select and hold . . Close the music player menu Press the end key. The music continues playing. To adjust the volume, select Options > Volume.
Entertainment Stereo output or Mono output — Activate the stereo or mono output. Radio theme — Select a radio theme. Equaliser Adjust the sound when using the music player. Select Menu > Media > Equaliser. To activate a predefined equaliser set, scroll to one of the sets, and select Activate. Create a new equaliser set 1 Select one of the last two sets in the list and Options > Edit. 2 Scroll left or right to access the virtual sliders and up or down to adjust the slider.
Entertainment Enter a web address and connect to it Select Menu > Web > Go to address. Enter the address, and select OK. After you make a connection to the service, you can start browsing its pages. The function of the phone keys may vary in different services. Follow the text guides on the phone display. For more information, contact your service provider.
Maps Launch an application Select Menu > Applications > Games, Memory card, or Collection. Scroll to a game or an application, and select Open. To set sounds, lights, and shakes for a game, select Menu > Applications > Options > Application settings.
Organise download a new selection, to ensure that all maps are from the same release. Network map service You can set your phone to automatically download maps that you do not have in your phone when needed. Select Menu > Organiser > Maps > Settings > Network settings > Allow network usage > Yes or In home network. To prevent automatic download of maps, select No.
Organise 31 contacts saved in the SIM card memory are . indicated by Several contacts Select Options > Mark. 1 Mark the contacts, and select Options > Copy marked or Move marked. 2 Select Settings > Memory in use to select the SIM card, the phone memory, or both for your contacts. Select Phone and SIM to recall contacts from both memories. When you save contacts, they are saved in the phone memory.
Organise date are set according to the time zone and enable your phone to display the correct sending time of received text or multimedia messages. For example, GMT -5 denotes the time zone for New York (USA), 5 hours west of Greenwich, London (UK). Alarm clock To sound an alarm at a desired time. Set the alarm 1 Select Menu > Organiser > Alarm clock. 2 Set the alarm on, and enter the alarm time. 3 To issue an alarm on selected days of the week, select Repeat: > On and the days.

View times or Delete times — to view or delete the saved times Countdown timer Normal timer 1 To activate the timer, select Menu > Organiser > Countd. timer > Normal timer, enter a time, and write a note that is displayed when the time expires. To change the time, select Change time. 2 To start the timer, select Start. 3 To stop the timer, select Stop timer.
