SIM interface
The device has one SIM (Subscriber Identification Module) interface. The interface is located in two ASICs;
digital ASIC RAP contains most of the interface functionality and the mixed signal EM ASIC (N2200) takes care
of power up/down, card detect, ATR counting and level shifting.
The SIM IF is shown in the following figure:
When smart card is inserted the supplied voltage is first 1.8V. If the card does not answer with the ATR (answer
to reset) the next higher class is applied. Only 1.8V and 3V cards are supported.
EM ASIC (N2200) handles the smart card detection. Smart cards are located behind battery and the removal
of the battery causes quick power down of the cards.
