A micro SIM card is smaller than the standard SIM card.
Get started 7 3 Open the SIM card holder (3), and insert or remove the SIM card (4 or 5). Make sure the contact area of the card is facing down. 4 Line up the contacts of the battery and the battery compartment, and insert the battery (6). To replace the back cover, direct the top locking catches toward their slots (7), and press down until the cover locks into place (8).

Get started 9 Insert a memory card Use only compatible memory cards approved by Nokia for use with this device. Incompatible cards may damage the card and the device and corrupt data stored on the card. Your phone supports memory cards with a capacity of up to 32 GB. 1 2 3 Remove the back cover. Make sure the contact area of the card is facing down. Push the card in, until it locks into place. Replace the back cover.
1 2 3 Get started Connect the charger to a wall outlet. Connect the charger to the phone. When the phone indicates a full charge, disconnect the charger from the phone, then from the wall outlet. You do not need to charge the battery for a specific length of time, and you can use the phone while it is charging. If the battery is completely discharged, it may take several minutes before the charging indicator is displayed or before any calls can be made.
Get started 11 GSM antenna The figure shows the GSM antenna area marked in grey. Avoid touching the antenna area while the antenna is in use. Contact with antennas affects the communication quality and may reduce battery life due to higher power level during operation. Connect a headset Do not connect products that create an output signal, as this may damage the device. Do not connect any voltage source to the Nokia AV connector.

Basic use 13 If not supplied with the card or you forget the codes, contact your service provider. You can set your phone to ask for the PIN code when you switch it on. If you enter the code incorrectly three times in a row, you need to unblock the code with the PUK or PUK2 code. The module PIN is required to access the information in the security module of your SIM card. The signing PIN may be required for the digital signature. Security code This protects your phone against unauthorised use.
Basic use Rename a SIM card Select Options > Rename. Tip: To open the SIM manager from the home screen, press and hold *. Lock the keys To avoid accidentally making a call when your phone is in your pocket or bag, lock the keys. Select Menu, and then press *. Unlock the keys Select Unlock, and press *. Set the keys to lock automatically 1 Select Menu > Settings and Device > Automatic keyguard > On. 2 Define the length of time after which the keys are locked automatically.
Calls 6 7 15 If the other phone requires a passcode, enter the passcode. The passcode, which you can define yourself, must be entered in both phones. The passcode in some phones is fixed. For details, see the user guide of the other phone. The passcode is valid only for the current connection. If prompted, allow connection and copying requests.
1 2 Contacts On the home screen, press the call key. Go to the number, and press the call key. If prompted, select the SIM card to use. Divert calls to your voice mailbox or another phone number When you cannot answer, you can divert your calls. Call divert is a network service. 1 2 3 4 5 Select Menu > Settings > Call > Call divert. Select the SIM card to use. Select when to divert the incoming calls: All voice calls — Divert all incoming voice calls. If busy — Divert voice calls when busy.
Write text 17 Use speed dial You can quickly call your friends and family when you assign your most-used phone numbers to the number keys of your phone. You can only use speed dials for the contacts stored on your phone or on the SIM card in the internal SIM card holder. Select Menu > Contacts > More > Speed dials. Assign a phone number to a number key 1 Go to a number key, and select Assign. 1 is reserved for the voice mailbox. 2 Enter a number or search for a contact.
Write text Activate or deactivate predictive text input mode Select Options > Prediction > Prediction on or Prediction off. Not all languages are supported by predictive text input. Switch between character cases Press #. Activate number mode Press and hold #, and select Number mode. To return to letter mode, press and hold #. Tip: To quickly enter an individual number, press and hold the number key. Set the writing language Select Options > Writing language.
Messaging 1 2 3 19 Press each number key (2–9) once for each character. Press * repeatedly, and select the desired word from the list. To confirm the word, move the cursor forward. Add a missing word to the dictionary If ? is displayed when you enter a word using predictive text input, the word is not in the dictionary. You can add it to the built-in dictionary. 1 2 3 Select Spell. Write the word using traditional text input. Select Save. Write a compound word 1 Write the first part of the word.
Messaging Characters with accents, other marks, or some language options, take more space, limiting the number of characters that can be sent in a single message. If the item you insert in a multimedia message is too large for the network, the device may automatically reduce the size. Only compatible devices can receive and display multimedia messages. Messages may look different in different devices. Save an attachment You can save attachments from multimedia and mail messages to your phone.
Messaging 21 Manual — You receive notifications about multimedia messages that you have received in your messaging centre, and you can retrieve the multimedia messages manually. Off — Multimedia message retrieval is deactivated. You do not get notifications about multimedia messages. If you select MMS reception > Manual, you can retrieve multimedia messages manually. Retrieve a multimedia message manually 1 Select Menu > Messaging > Inbox. 2 Open the multimedia message notification, and select Retrieve.
Connectivity Connectivity Bluetooth About Bluetooth connectivity Select Menu > Settings > Connectivity > Bluetooth. You can connect wirelessly to other compatible devices, such as phones, computers, headsets, and car kits. You can use the connection to send items from your phone, copy files from your compatible PC, and print files with a compatible printer. Since devices with Bluetooth wireless technology communicate using radio waves, they do not need to be in direct line-of-sight.
Connectivity 23 Send a picture or other content to another device using Bluetooth Use Bluetooth to send pictures, videos, business cards, and other content created by you to your computer or a friend's compatible phone or device. 1 2 3 4 Select the item to send. Select Options > Send > Via Bluetooth. Select the device to connect to. If the desired device is not displayed, to search for it, select New search. Bluetooth devices within range are displayed.

Pictures and videos 4 5 6 7 25 To repeat an alarm on selected days of the week, go to Repeat days, and mark the desired days of the week. To select the alarm tone, go to Alarm tone, and scroll left or right. If you select the radio as the alarm tone, connect a headset to the phone. To set the length of the snooze time-out period, go to Snooze time-out, and enter the desired time. Select Save. Stop the alarm Select Stop.
Music and audio Send a picture or video Want to share your pictures and videos with friends and family? Send a multimedia message or send a picture using Bluetooth. Select Menu > Photos. Music and audio FM radio About the FM radio Select Menu > Music > Radio. You can listen to FM radio stations using your phone - just connect a headset, and select a station. To listen to the radio, you need to connect a compatible headset to the device. The headset acts as an antenna. It is not possible to listen to the radio through a Bluetooth headset. Web 29 Find and save radio stations Search for your favourite radio stations, and save them, so you can easily listen to them later. Select Menu > Music > Radio. Search for the next available station Press and hold the scroll key left or right. Save a station Select Options > Save station. Automatically search for radio stations Select Options > Search stations. For best results, search when outdoors or near a window. Switch to a saved station Scroll left or right.
Phone management You may receive the configuration settings required for browsing as a configuration message from your network service provider. Browse the web Select Menu > Internet. Go to a website Select Go to address, and enter the address. Clear browsing history Select Menu > Internet. A cache is a memory location that is used to store data temporarily. If you have, or have tried to, access confidential information or a secure service, requiring passwords, clear the cache after each use.
Phone management 31 Select Menu > Settings. 1 2 3 4 Select Device > Device updates. To display the current software version and check whether an update is available, select Current software details. To download and install a software update, select Download device software. Follow the displayed instructions. If the installation was cancelled after the download, select Install software update. The software update may take several minutes.
Nokia original accessories To get more information and to download the Nokia Ovi Suite application, go to www.nokia.com/software. Restore original settings If your phone is not working properly, you can reset some settings to their original values. 1 2 3 End all calls and connections.
