Results of an IM search
To use the results of a search for an IM user or group, scroll through the list of found IM groups that match your search criteria.
If the list is long, scroll down past the first page of results, or perform another search to limit the number of results. To join an
IM group listed in the search results, select a group name and Join group. To bookmark an IM group listed in the search results,
select a group name and Save to Favorites. The group is added to your personal favorites list.
To perform another search for an IM group, select Search options > OK.
Select from the following:
• New search — to create the criteria for a different search.
• Get more results — to generate more results for the current search.
• Show previous results — to list the results of your previous search.
Editing an IM contact
You can edit the nickname of a contact in your contacts list. To modify the user ID, you must create a new contact by
selecting Add contact from the main view.
To change the nickname of a user in your IM contact list, press Menu, and select Contacts > Edit info in the main view. The
nickname is updated in device memory and in the master list on the server.
Sharing your IM status
To appear offline, press Menu, and select My status > Share my status > With no one. You are online but invisible to other users.
By default, your status is shared With all users.
To inform other users that you are online but not available to chat, press Menu, and select My status > Availability > Away. You
can type an away message. You are online and visible to all users, but your away message will automatically reply to users that
contact you. The default setting shows you as Available.
Viewing a list of saved conversations
To view a list of saved IM conversations, press Menu, and select Conversations > Open saved conversation. Scroll through the
history list to view titles and dates of previous conversations. You can view, rename, or delete a conversation in the list.
Blocking and unblocking users
When you block a user, the user is taken offline and added to your list of blocked users. Status alerts, invitations, and
conversations associated with the user are removed. You cannot send a message to a blocked user, and the blocked user does
not receive updates about your availability.
To block a user on your contact list, select a user from your contact list, press Menu, and select Contacts > Block.
Blocking a user that is not on your contact list - To block a user that is not on your contact list, select Block when you receive a
new message from an unknown user.
Unblocking a user - To unblock a user, press Menu, and select View > Blocked list, a user from your blocked list, and Unblock.
The user is removed from the blocked list. You can now receive invitations and messages from the user.
Searching for an IM user or group
Search for an IM group by group name, keyword, or user ID of a member of the group. If the desired group is not found, the
group creator may have set group properties so that a search for that group is not allowed.
To search for a group, press Menu, and select Tools > Find group.
Viewing the results of an IM search
To view the results of a group search, press Menu, and select Tools > Find group, the search criteria, and Find. A search may
return a list of found IM groups that match your search criteria. Scroll up and down through the list until you locate the desired
group.
Managing IM groups
To use the IM groups main view, press Menu, and select View > Groups. You can view, join, and create IM groups. The left frame
displays a list of groups that you have created, joined, or bookmarked.
To join an IM group, press Menu, select View > Groups, a group name in your Favorites list, and Join. There are several other
ways to join an IM group: accept an invitation from another IM user to join a group, search for a group and select a group from
