4. Making and answering
calls
This chapter tells you how to make and receive calls and how to adjust
certain options.
• Make a call
The Nokia 8890 has both a fixed, internal antenna and a retractable
antenna. When using the antenna in the extended position
• extend the antenna fully
• retract the antenna when you’re not using the phone
Note:
The position of the antenna does not affect the functioning of
the phone.
Check the signal strength
The signal indicator on the left side of your phone’s screen
shows the strength of the network radio signal. The indicator
scrolls as the signal strength increases and decreases. To get
the strongest signal, try moving your phone slightly. If you’re
inside a building, move toward a window.
Use the keypad

Enter the area code and phone number.

Hold the phone as you would any other
telephone, with the antenna pointed up
and over your shoulder.
