Get started 9 Touch screen To control your phone, lightly touch the screen with your fingertips. The screen does not respond when you use your fingernails. If your fingertips are cold, the screen may not respond to your touch. Important: Avoid scratching the touch screen. Never use an actual pen, pencil, or other sharp object on the touch screen.
Get started 2 If the battery is inserted, lift the battery out. 3 Insert a SIM card. Make sure the contact area of the card is facing up. Push the card in, until it locks into place. 4 Line up the contacts of the battery and the battery compartment, and insert the battery. 5 To replace the back cover, direct the top locking catches toward their slots, and press down until the cover locks into place.
Get started 11 Insert a memory card Use only compatible MicroSD cards approved by Nokia for use with this device. Incompatible cards may damage the card and the device and corrupt data stored on the card. Important: Do not remove the memory card when an app is using it. Doing so may damage the memory card and the device and corrupt data stored on the card. Keep all memory cards out of the reach of small children. 1 2 Switch the phone off.
6 Get started Replace the battery and the back cover. Make sure the cover is properly closed. You can record high-definition videos. If you are recording a video to a memory card, for the best performance, use fast, high-quality microSD cards from known manufacturers. The recommended microSD card class is 4 (32Mbit/s (4MB/s)) or higher. Remove a memory card 1 Switch the phone off. 2 Remove the back cover of the phone. 3 If the battery is inserted, lift the battery out.
Get started 13 2 You do not need to charge the battery for a specific length of time, and you can use the phone while it is charging. If the battery is completely discharged, it may take several minutes before the charging indicator is displayed or before any calls can be made. If your old Nokia phone doesn't have the Phone switch app, your new phone sends it in a message using Bluetooth.

Switch the loudspeaker on during a call To allow others in the room to join in with a call, switch the built-in loudspeaker on. Select . When you make or receive a video call, the loudspeaker is automatically switched on. Switch the loudspeaker off Select .
Telephone Make a video call to the contact Select and hold the contact, and from the contact card, select Video call. Turn to silence your phone If your phone rings in a situation where you do not want to be disturbed, you can turn the phone to silence the ringtone. Switch the turn to silence feature on > Settings and Phone > Sensor settings > Silence calls > On. Select When your phone rings, turn your phone face down. Call a contact > Contacts.
Telephone 43 Swap between an active call and a call on hold > Swap. Select Connect the call on hold to the active call > Transfer. You disconnect yourself from the calls. For a face-toface chat, why not make a video call to them? Video calls are a network service, and to make a video call, you need to be in a 3G network.

If the call recipient does not want to send video, you only hear the voice of the caller, and may see an image or a blank screen. To end the video call, press the end key. Internet call services may support calls between computers, between mobile phones, and between a VoIP device and a traditional telephone. The internet call service is a network service. You can easily save the number in a new or existing contact list entry. If you use Nokia Sync to automatically sync your contacts, do not allow contact syncing with any other service as there may be conflicts.

All the feeds from the services you have added are automatically included in the view. Messages If you send a text message to one or more recipients, and the contact information of one of the recipients is a mail address instead of a phone number, the text message is converted to a multimedia message. If the item you insert in a multimedia message is too large for the network, the device may automatically reduce the size. Only compatible devices can receive and show multimedia messages. Messages may look different in different devices.

Select the mailbox and the mail. Tip: To quickly read new mail, add a mail widget to your home screen. Tip: To zoom in or out, place two fingers on the screen, then slide them together or apart. Open or save an attachment Select the attachment and Open or Save. If there is more than one attachment, you can save them all at once.

If you browse to an area not covered by the street maps that are stored on your phone, and you are connected to the internet, new street maps are automatically downloaded. Prevent downloading new street maps automatically > Settings > General.
Maps 73 Download and update maps Save new street maps to your phone before a journey, so you can browse the maps without an internet connection when travelling. Select > Maps and > Map Loader. If you remove an app, you can only reinstall it if you have the original installation file or a full backup of the removed app. You may not be able to open files created with a removed app.

Connectivity Tip: You can add a Wi-Fi widget to the home screen. To quickly switch the Wi-Fi in feature on or off, select the switch in the widget. To open the Wi-Fi app, select the widget. The Wi-Fi feature needs to be switched on. The Wi-Fi app shows a list of available networks and helps you connect to a Wi-Fi network. Important: Use encryption to increase the security of your Wi-Fi connection. Using encryption reduces the risk of others accessing your data.

Connectivity 123 Connect to a wireless headset With a wireless headset you can answer a call even if your phone is not directly at hand, and you can have your hands free, for example, to continue working at your computer during a call. Connectivity 3 Activate Bluetooth in the car kit accessory. When remote SIM mode is activated, Remote SIM mode is displayed on the home screen. The connection to the wireless network is closed, and you cannot use SIM card services or features that require cellular network coverage. To make or receive calls when in remote SIM mode, you need to have a compatible accessory, such as a car kit, connected to your device. Your device will only allow emergency calls in this mode.

This helps to protect your phone from harmful content. Find more help Media transfer — Connect your phone to a compatible computer that does not have Nokia Suite installed. Music protected by digital rights management (DRM) must be transferred in this mode. Some home entertainment systems and printers can also be used in this mode. Use phone as modem — Connect your phone to a compatible computer, and use the phone as a wireless modem. The computer connects to the internet automatically.
