Instant messaging (IM)
Unblock messages from a contact
1 From the Inst. messaging online menu, select IM Contacts.
2 Scroll to the contact from whom you want to unblock messages.
3 Press Select, then select Unblock.
A message appears, asking if you want to unblock messages from the contact.
4 Press OK.
Updating information appears, followed by a confirmation note.
Set an alert for a contact
You can set an alert for a contact to notify you when the contact’s availability changes.
1 From the Inst. messaging online menu, select IM Contacts.
2 Scroll to the contact for whom you want to set an alert.
3 Press Select, scroll to Set alert and press Select.
Alert set appears.
Release an alert for a contact
1 From the Inst. messaging online menu, select IM Contacts.
2 Scroll to the contact for whom you want to release an alert.
3 Press Select, scroll to Remove alert and press Select.
User status alert released appears.
• GROUP CHAT
The group chat feature allows you to chat with multiple participants simultaneously.
You can create your own private chat groups or be invited to join in on a live chat
that is already in progress. Group chat participants must be entered in your contact
list. (See “IM Contacts” on page 99 for more information.) During a group chat, all
participant’s messages are displayed in one conversation screen screen.
Create private chat group
1 From the Inst. messaging online menu, select Group convers.
The Group name screen appears.
2 Enter the group name (up to 10 characters), and select Options > OK.
Your screen name appears.
3 Select Options > OK.
Updating information appears, then a confirmation note, followed by the
conversation screen with the group name displayed at the top.
