13 Manage phone security
Your phone is equipped with different security features that allow you to
do the following:
• avoid making accidental calls,
• prevent unauthorized use of your phone, and
• restrict outgoing or incoming calls.
• LOCK THE KEYPAD (KEYGUARD)
Keyguard disables your keypad to prevent
accidental key presses (for example, when your
phone is in your pocket or purse).
• To lock the keys, press Menu, then .
• To unlock the keys, press Unlock, then .
Automatic keyguard
You can have your phone automatically lock the keys after a time you
specify.
1 Press Menu 4 4 2 (Settings > Phone settings > Automatic
keyguard).
2 Scroll to On, then press Select.
3 Set the delay time, then press OK.
Notes about Keyguard
Note: When Keyguard is on, calls may be possible to emergency
numbers (for example, 911 or other official emergency number).
Key in the emergency number and press . The number is
displayed only after you have keyed in its last digit.
• Connecting your phone to a car kit automatically disables Keyguard.
